Art of the 2010 World Cup

As the 2010 FIFA World Cup gets closer, it’s only natural that more and more projects related to the world’s greatest sporting event come to light. Earlier, we brought you news of a Kehinde Wiley x Puma World Cup project and now word comes that FIFA has commissioned 17 artists to create soccer-themed works of art. Openings: Logan Hicks, Anthony Lister and Michael Kalish @ Opera Gallery (NY)

Last week, AM attended the opening at New York’s Opera Gallery where they hosted the opening for Logan Hicks (interviewed), Anthony Lister’s (interviewed) and Michael Kalish. Many attended the opening including Eric Haze, Charming Baker and crew. Check out the opening night pics after the jump.

Openings: JR – “Women Are Heroes” @ Galerie Springmann.Varol

Germany got a healthy dosage of JR with his recent opening at Duesseldorf’s Gallery Springmann.Varol. The latest exhibition in JR’s  “Women Are Heroes” project, (previously seen in Paris and London) had much of the town buzzing. The gorgeous gallery was a great space for the French street photographer to showcase his talents. Both the inside and outside were fully utilized by the artist’s signature photo paste-ups.
