Videos: Invader x VNA – “Paris 2011”

You may remember the special Invader screenprinted edition of the VNA magazine that we gave away here on AM a while back. Apparently, the Very Nearly Almost crew also produced a video while visiting with street artist in Paris where he gives them a little tour of what he has been working on as well as talks on camera on various things. The Standard Hotel just uploaded a new video taking a short behind-the-scenes look at the Jose Parla Character Gestures show (covered here & here) in Los Angeles last month. Put together by the Parla brothers (Jose and Ray), the footage reminds us of what a great new body of work it was, a fitting show for his LA fans, long in coming. Via Slamxhype. Retna x David LaChappelle for Vanity Fair

So, it looks like the new spread for Vanity Fair that we mentioned a while back finally materialized. Taken by David Lachapelle (who just opened a show at PRISM), the photograph features RETNA (featured) in front of his West Hollywood mural (covered) with a little help from photoshop it seems. Check out this nicely put together video showing Dale Grimshaw getting busy with the work from his upcoming exhibition Semi-Detached opening this Thursday 6th October at Signal Gallery. Washington DC-based artist Mark Jenkins, whose work we enjoyed back in March at the VOLTA fair during Armory Week, recently got involved with the Beck’s Green Box Project, an interesting application of new technology in the streets.
