Continuing their ongoing series of sleeping giants murals, art duo Ella & Pitr recently finished a massive new piece in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Depicting a little baby peacefully sleeping with his mother by its side, the mural was created with the help of locals that volunteered to help the project. Ella & Pitr were invited by Santurce Ley Festival to paint one of their famous giant works in the Caribbean. With this series, the French artists turn rooftops, parking lots, and other large areas into cramped sleeping […]

Following up on the new murals we shared with you last week from ROA & Nychos, which were painted for the BUKRUK Urban Arts Festival in Thailand, we now have images of Aryz’s contribution. For this latest piece, the Spanish artist chose for his inspiration something that can often be seen on the streets of Bangkok – the bicycle. Take a look at more detailed and progress shots below… Photo credit: A-line Photography & the artist. Discuss Aryz here.

On February 11th, the Joshua Liner Gallery in New York will open a solo exhibition by Michael Kagan. Entitled Lights Out, this new body of work by the Brooklyn-based painter focuses on man’s moments of triumph over nature’s limits. As the name of the exhibition indicates, the Kagan pushes the boundaries of his amped up compositions to include situations in which there are nearly no margin for errors. One mistake/miscalculations would mean a literal end to the participant’s life. Expanding on his awe inspiring first show with the gallery (covered), Kagan […]

Genalguacil is a small town in southern Spain which has been involved in supporting and organizing art projects for the last 20 years. Slowly turning the town into an open space museum, the locals recently invited Javier Calleja from nearby Malaga to add his contribution to the collection. Inspired by the winding mountain roads between his hometown and the destination, the artist created this interesting sculptural installation titled Up, depicting a giant stubby pencil drawing a simple line on a white facade. This writing utensil is often […]

Currently in Bangkok, the BUKRUK Urban Arts Festival has seen a steady stream of street artists arrive to leave their mark on the capital city. One of these is ROA, who is painting across the way from Aryz (more on his mural later), and with his usual practice, choosing to use local creatures as his inspiration. The Belgium-based artist’s decision was easy of course, placing two iconic Thai elephants balanced on top of each other as well as cleverly resting their feet on some architectural elements. Photo […]

The next artist we want to share with you in our Art Focus series is Benjamin Garcia and his series of textured portraits. The Venezuelan artist’s multi-layered technique is utilized perfectly to render the disjointed transition between the conscious and the unconscious and seems also to reveal some of the inner psyches of his subjects. He currently has some of his oil paintings on view with Smash Gallery at the LA Art Show and has contributed something to the upcoming 3rd annual POW! WOW! Exploring The New Contemporary […]
