The other Aussie artist in the show was Jeremy Geddes, whose works we were quite taken with (pics saved for Part II post) Images all after the jump…

Update: Allison Sommers

Allison Sommers (interviewed) recently completed one of her delightful little sculptures of the mischievous creatures from her paintings – “Little Diedrich.” She writes – “A meat cake, a sheet cake filled with hammy treats cake… so could be heard the siren-song of little Diedrich, waiting in the woods for an unsuspecting traveler to sample his gaily-frosted, heavenly-delicious confectionaries…” Look for more sculptures and paintings in her next solo show at Thinkspace in May of 2010. More views of Deidrich after the jump…

Expect to see his usual acrylic on wood works and also his continued explorations into watercolor as you can see by “Rock Pile I” (above). More preview images via Soto’s blog after the jump…

Highlights: Recommended openings for this weekend (Nov. 27th/28th)

This is the last weekend before most of the major galleries in the art world descend upon Miami during Art Basel week where well over 20 art fairs will play host to almost 1,000 international galleries. Despite this fact, there are still a few noteworthy shows going off around the world this weekend we wanted to point out. In addition to all the fairs down in Miami next week, there will also be a number of noteworthy special events taking place this year. All in all, […]

Openings: Gert and Uwe Tobias – The Breeder, Athens

AM was in Athens, Greece, and stopped into The Breeder to check out the latest show by Romanian-born twins Gert and Uwe Tobias. We first became aware of the brothers a few years back after happening upon a show of theirs at a gallery in Los Angeles’ Chinatown, where we were instantly taken by their dark yet playful works on paper. Since then, they have done quite well to say the least, exhibiting at MoMA, as well as at prestigious galleries around the world.

Creative Process: Tristram Lansdowne

Just ahead of his solo show at LE Gallery entitled “Entropical Paradise” (previewed with studio visit), AM brings you a glimpse of how Tristram Lansdowne typically puts together one of his pieces. We asked Tristram if he would record some details of his artistic process for us – he did just that, and you can see the stages of one of his paintings coming together along with a some words from the artist after the jump.
