After 12 years in New York, Jonathan LeVine Gallery has relocated to Jersey City at Mana Contemporary. Their inaugural show in the new space is entitled Welcome to New Jersey and opens on February 18th. Openings: Jeremiah Jenkins – “Everything Must Go” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

Earlier this month, Hashimoto Contemporary opened a solo show from Jeremiah Jenkins entitled Everything Must Go. The new body of work includes sculptural works from the local artist that display his signature wit and novel technique of dismantling an item’s original form and recreating it in a way to make the viewer think. The most delightful pieces come from his Trophy series where the ubiquitous golden figures seen on top of the common prizes appear to have taken a lives of their own. Tomorrow night (February 11th) in Detroit, Library Street Collective will be presenting new work from Sam Friedman in a show entitled LOVE SONGS. Continuing his deconstruction of natural landscapes, the New York-based artist has prepared a series of canvases as well as over 30 paintings on paper that revisit his earlier exploration of beach scenes and sunsets. KAWS Releasing Remaining Stock Of “BFF” Plush (Black Version)

For those who missed the original blue colorway of KAWS’ BFF plush (covered) in Thailand, there was another chance with the recent slate of black versions that were released in conjunction with his exhibition in Texas (covered). Showing: Josh Reames – “Texting While Driving” @ Bill Brady

Showing through the end of this weekend in Miami is Josh Reames’ exhibition at Bill Brady Gallery. Entitled Texting While Driving, the new work features the imagery from the Brooklyn-based artist references the distracted driver with the random streams of information that seen with cursory glances in between giving attention to the cellphone. Also on display in the space are a series of traffic cone sculptures, presented in a variety of colors, heights, and conditions. Discuss Josh Reames here.

POW! WOW! Hawaii ’16 / Previews: Exploring The New Contemporary Movement” @ Honolulu Museum of Art School

This Sunday, POW! WOW! Hawaii (more info here) kicks off with a re-occurring show curated by Thinkspace at the Honolulu Museum of Art School entitled Exploring The New Contemporary Movement (see 2016 & 2015 & 2014). As in the past, the format is 12 x 12″ works, leading to a visually congruent display of artworks, some of which were inspired by island life.
