Previews: KAWS – “Where The End Starts” @ Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

As we previously mentioned, on October 20th, a major survey of the work of KAWS will be opening at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, following up on his 2011 show at the same institution (covered). Organized by The Modern’s curator Andrea Karnes in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition and the accompanying catalogue explore the development of the artist’s career from the 1990s to the present. With approximately 100 works on view, this large show will give an overview of his formal, conceptual, and collaborative developments. Upcoming: Anarchic Adjustment – “The Future Is Not What It Used To Be” @ Seventh Letter Gallery

Anarchic Adjustment, a fashion clothing company originally founded in London and then popularized in San Francisco, is celebrating their 30 year anniversary revival at the Seventh Letter Gallery in Los Angeles. Entitled The Future Is Not What It Used To Be, the exhibition will be featuring mainly sculptural works dealing with the “uncompromising satire of mass distraction, narcissism and the hidden machine.” For those interested, the show opens on October 20th.

Releases: Damien Hirst – “Myth And Legend”

Those who follow Damien Hirst may remember the Myth & Legend sculptures that he had on display at Chatsworth House grounds in the UK in 2013 (covered). The British artist now has released porcelain replicas of the two partially dissected imaginary creatures (unicorn – myth, pegasus – legend) as a set currently through Outer Criteria in an edition of 20 for £67,000. Releases: Eine – “The Missing Letter” Sculptural Edition

Fluorescent Smogg recently released a series of sculptural editions from Eine, their second collaboration with the British street artist on three-dimensional representations of his famous letters. The hand cast concrete sculpture is produced in a run of 10 in four unique color ways (light blue, saffron yellow, light green, light pink) plus a handfinished special edition, £575.00 & £875.00 respectively. Entitled The Missing Letter to reference the fact that Eine’s alphabet canvases sometimes omit the letter ‘W’, these can be added to your collection by heading here. Discuss Eine here.

Fans of Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) may want to plan ahead to her next solo show coming up soon in Los Angeles. Opening on November 12th (alongside Stella Im Hultberg) at Thinkspace Gallery, her new body of work will be entitled Interlude, sure to feature her beautifully rendered sensual women with expert use of the wood grains in the painting surface. On October 15th, the Urban Dawn II exhibition organized by curator19.90 will get underway in Beirut, Lebanon. Recap: FestiWall 2016 (Italy)

The FestiWall public arts and music event recently wrapped up their 2016 edition with a small but effective roster of artists creating murals on the island of Sicily. An example of this was a lush piece entitled The Gardener (seen above) from Australian street artist Fintan Magee, a multi-story masterpiece painted over several days.
