Streets: Mars-1 x Curiot (Nashville)

Last week in Tennessee, Mars-1 (featured) & Curiot decided to work on a mural together for the Nashville Walls Project. Located at the new Nashville Sounds Baseball Park and sponsored by Gibson Custom Division, the new piece sees Curiot adapt his style to mesh nicely with Martinez’s organic otherworldly imagery. Upcoming: Andy Kehoe – “Fantastical Romanticism” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On June 25th, a solo show from Andy Kehoe will open at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. The new body of work from the Pittsburgh-based artist entitled Fantastical Romanticism has been in-progress for at least a year now so we are anxious to see what new ideas he has been working on. Those who attend the opening can expect to see more of his mystical creatures in Autumn-tinged natural settings, painted with a technique that gives the work dimensionality. Discuss Andy Kehoe here.

Releases: Gary Baseman x Coach Hand Painted Jackets & Totes

Since we first reported (in 2014) on Gary Baseman (interviewed) and his work with Coach, the American luxury fashion company has certainly further expanded their collaboration with the Los Angeles-based artist. One of the more recent spinoffs are a set of 10 unique hand-painted jackets & totes that have become available. These wearable art pieces were created to celebrate Baseman’s new Collaboration Collection with Stuart Vevers, the Creative Director of Coach. Discuss Gary Baseman here.

Previews: KAWS – “BFF” @ Central Embassy (Bangkok)

Along with peeks at the new 8 meter tall sculpture from KAWS to be unveiled soon in Thailand, fans of the Brooklyn-based artist are also excited to see a new product line release. The project at Central Embassy in Bangkok, produced with the help of curator AllRightsReserved, will feature a new character called BFF that looks to be a mix between Elmo and the Cookie Monster with the artist’s distinctive double X’s for eyes. Streets: Kamea Hadar – “Hapa” (Hawaii)

Recently in Honolulu, Kamea Hadar unveiled a mural honoring Barack Obama, a former resident of Hawaii, for his service as the 44th President of the United States. The locally-based painter and also co-lead director of POW! WOW! Hawaii, entitled the mural Hapa, a reference to both the POTUS and artist’s mixed heritage. After a series of public interventions the last few years in China, Ludo returned once again to Far East to work on more pieces for his Ephemera project. This time, he is collaborating with non-profit organization called Tencent Foundation and its major media company Tencent QQ. Releases: Adam Neate – “Imploding Head” Print

Adam Neate (interviewed) recently released a new limited edition from his ongoing Dimensional Editions. Published by Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, Imploding Head was produced in a very limited edition of only 18 pieces. This silkscreen release, the British artist’s first, is based on his recent painting Simulation Theory Anxiety No.1 which was featured in the exhibition Dimensionalist Painter held at the gallery in October 2015 (covered). Openings: Meghan Howland – “Your Magic Is Real” @ Roq La Rue

Hailing from Portland, Maine, Meghan Howland (pictured left below) made the trek to the Pacific Northwest for her Your Magic Is Real exhibition (on display until July 2nd) at Roq la Rue, which will be one of the last before the gallery closes its doors in September. The exhibition features several colorful oil paintings alongside charcoal drawings on paper.
