Releases: Kaws x Uniqlo Collection

Recently, Nigo announced that KAWS will be designing Uniqlo’s UT line for spring. The new collection, scheduled to be on sale April 22nd, will consist of 12 T-shirts with the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. By the first look, they are everything KAWS fans would hope for. The Companions, X’s, gloves, eyes and Chums, all rendered with the American artist’s recognizable line work, have found their way on to the backs and fronts of the tees. On April 28th, Zieher, Smith, & Horton will be putting on display Michael Dotson’s remix of iconic Disney imagery in a solo show. The New York-based artist started down this path when he stumbled upon Disney Screencaps, a website featuring almost every frame of every Disney movie ever made. Altering, twisting, and distorting the stills with his artistic vision, Dotson helps them reach their full potential by accenting different elements and incorporating electric colors and patterns. Previews: Danny van Ryswyk – “Tender Loving Darkness” @ Roq La Rue

On April 7th, Seattle’s Roq La Rue will be welcoming in Danny van Ryswyk and his series of sculptures in a show entitled Tender Loving Darkness. The Amsterdam-based artist uses an interesting process to create his morbid works, starting digitally with a 3D program. He then prints these out with a 3D printer and meticulously hand paints each one in a process that can take weeks. Along with these dark sculptural renditions, van Ryswyk also has included some prints in the exhibition. Discuss Danny van Ryswyk here.

After sharing with you the public installation from Vhils (filmed) inspired by the neon lights of Hong Kong, we now turn our attention to the exhibition he currently has on display with the HOCA Foundation. Debris was the first solo show from the Portuguese artist in Hong Kong and features his multitude of techniques on different mediums including a video installation. On April 8th, Subliminal Projects will be opening a new group exhibition entitled Out Of Line featuring the work of Aaron Li-Hill, Guno Park (seen above), Mark Powell, and Von. The show participants were chosen for using primarily graphite, pen, and ink as their medium of choice, but also explores how they have expanded on traditional concepts of drawing.
