Streets / Releases: Saber x Zes (Los Angeles) & Originals

Like they did in 2014 (covered), the AWR/MSK affiliated SABER (interviewed) and ZES recently collaborated on another impressive mural in Los Angeles, this time at the American Tea Room building. The piece in Downtown was made possible with special thanks to Montana Colors USA, The Seventh Letter, as well as Branded Arts and is another example of the locally-based writers’ synergistic artistic energy. Last week in Downtown Los Angeles, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) completed a new installation for the Unispace office. Curated by Branded Arts as part of the DesignHive DTLA event, the mural and hanging sculptures from the locally-based artist played with the idea of a technology cloud with his raindrop sculptures representing data coming down from the cloud and back to the earth. Take a look at more photos below as well as at more info here if interested… Discuss Yoskay Yamamoto here.

Streets: Ernest Zacharevic (Los Angeles)

After making his mark in Hawaii for POW! WOW!, Ernest Zacharevic traveled across the Pacific to spend some time in Los Angeles. While there, he worked on a mural in Culver City ( 3201 La Cienega Ave) on a building along with Nosego and Hueman, which was organized by Branded Arts. Streets: Greg “Craola” Simkins (Los Angeles)

It doesn’t happen often that Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) grabs a spray can, but when he does, he usually creates something exceptional. After not painting walls for quite some time, his newest mural, which he recently finished in Los Angeles, is definitely an example of that. With support from Branded Arts and Graphaids, the LA-based artist took some time off his studio work and upcoming animated I’m Scared: The Movie, in order to create this fantastic piece. Completely figurative, with no letters or other “classic” graffiti elements, the piece […]

POW WOW ’14 / Streets: Final Recap

After bringing you extensive coverage of this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii, it’s time to recap the rest of murals that we didn’t have time to focus on. Along with local artists, the muralists travelled from all over the world (like Defer &  Norm whose calligraphy made a perfect background to Kamea Hadar’s overlaid face) to beautify the industrial district of Kaka’ako in Honolulu and to share in the aloha spirit. Enjoy the rest of the images below and see you next year! Discuss POW WOW here. Photo credit: […]
