There’s also a huge flower sculpture, Split Rocker, in the garden of the museum. This video from Vernissage TV boasts footage of the entire show as well as a talk with curator Dr. Theodora Vischer. Other than this featured video, other notables for the […]

Streets: Yoskay Yamamoto (Los Angeles) Part II

After coming off an impressive exhibition at Lebasse Projects (covered) where he showed his versatility by focusing on sculptural works, Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) decided to try something new in his artistic career and go large scale (see in progress pics here). Set up through Branded Arts, the mural is actually his first and it clearly showed that he can paint his signature style on not only the small canvas. Using a variety of stencils to create an interesting pattern of white stars blending onto the […]

Streets: Yoskay Yamamoto (Los Angeles) Part I

Something that has come up in conversations the last several times we have seen Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) has been his desire to take his artistic vision to the next level with a large-scale mural. With his latest solo show (covered) successfully opened, it looks like the LA-based artist has taken the opportunity to go big at the Branded Arts complex in Culver City with the support of LeBasse Projects. His wall is sandwiched between work by Dabs Myla & Cyrcle. and features his painterly techniques as […]

Streets: RIME (Los Angeles)

Keeping up with yet another mural going up across the streets of Los Angeles, we caught up with MSK/AWR graffiti writer RIME as he was putting up his signature character design in the arts complex overseen by Warren Brand. This Branded Arts project is yet another addition to the growing list of artists such as Herakut (covered), Dabs Myla (covered) and most recently Anthony Lister (covered) who all have left their imprint at the Culver City complex. Sticking with his very unique style, RIME painted a number […]

Streets: Anthony Lister (Los Angeles)

Last time we saw Anthony Lister in Los Angeles, he painted a mural (covered) based on the film The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Now the Aussie artist is back in LA where he is preparing for his solo show at New Image Art (previewed). While here, he’s making the most of his time by also hitting up a Culver City location which is becoming a prominent mural spot for street artists as evidenced by walls from Herakut (covered), David Flores (covered), Cyrcle. (covered), Andrew […]

Videos: Dabs Myla – “Christmas Mural 2011” (Los Angeles)

Late last year during the holidays, we brought you pictures from Dabs Myla‘s latest mural which took place in the Culver City of Los Angeles (covered). It turns out the project (set up through Branded Arts and Thinkspace Gallery) has a story behind it that could be just as interesting as the aesthetic value of the mural itself. Filmmaker and AM contributor Carlos Gonzalez documented the project from beginning to end and got a chance to hang out with the couple during this entire process. The result […]

Streets: Dabs Myla (Los Angeles) Part II

Yesterday, we brought you a look at the progress from Dabs Myla’s latest mural in Los Angeles. This Branded Arts project once again shows off their impeccable technique as well as their ability to work on a large scale project with ease utilizing their unique style. After four days of working from day to night, we now have images of the duo putting onn the final touches and some photos of the finished outcome. More images after the jump…

Street: Dabs Myla (Los Angeles) Part I

The dynamic duo known as Dabs Myla have been hitting the mural scene as of late. Not too long ago, we saw them put up some great work during Art Basel Week Miami. Now, they are back in Los Angeles and creating what looks to be another impressive mural. Set up through Warren Brand and the Branded Arts project, this mural project has been quietly moving along during this entire week in the Culver City Arts complex where previous works from Herakut (covered), David Flores (covered), Cyrcle. […]

Streets: David Flores – “Basquiat” (Los Angeles)

Apart from the Cyrcle. crew painting their latest mural, David Flores also took the opportunity to paint his own mural at the Culver City building complex which houses mural work by Herakut and Andrew Hem. The Branded Arts sponsored project had Flores painting his signature style design on a big scale. Last time we saw Flores working on a wall, he took one of Phil Stern’s iconic images which featured James Dean. This time around Flores went a different route and created a rendering of […]

Streets: Cyrcle. (Los Angeles)

Last week, the artist collective known as Cyrcle. (featured) painted a mural in the midst of Culver City, California. Keeping the same theme of We Never Die, which was highlighted during their solo show a couple months ago, the group showed that they can smoothly move from the gallery space to the streets and back. The entire mural was a week long process but the results were of interest to anyone who drove by the building complex. The mural project spearheaded by Branded Arts which […]
