Last year, Wynwood Walls started out as an ambitious project to revive and reclaim the worndown Wynwood Arts District with art. This year, Tony Goldman upped the ante by expanding the project space with new works and installations by Ryan McGinness, Invader, Kenny Scharf, Ron English (featured), Jeff Soto’s (featured), Logan Hicks (interviewed), Friends With You and Shepard Fairey. Our friend Jasper Wong stopped by the “Trespass” book release and signing a couple weeks ago at the Beverly Hills outpost of Taschen and snapped some pics for us. In related news, the final event of the year surrounding the publication will be a signing at Art Basel Week. Fresh off the clamoring success of Sanrio’s 50th Anniversary bash in Southern California, Small Gift Los Angeles (covered), the art exhibition and pop-up store tag team celebration will be traveling down to South Beach next week to coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach. As the cornerstone of the touring event, 50 internationally-recognized artists were selected by curator R. Rock Enterprises to create original works in their signature medium, showcasing their favorite Sanrio characters within an 8,000 square foot custom space in the Wynwood Arts District. […]

We recently showed you images of Shepard Fairey down in Miami installing his mural inside this year’s Wynwood Walls cafe (covered). Well, more images have just surfaced from the Wynwood Walls project, courtesy of legendary street photographer Martha Cooper.
