Streets: Joker / Shok-1 / Remi Rough (London)

There seems to be a whole lot of muralising going on around the Futurism 2.0 exhibition we previewed earlier this week with a host of out-of-town artists in London for the show (which opens on Thursday 27th September) such as Joker aka Jerry Inscoe from Transcend. Keep your eyes peeled for more action in the coming days. This collaboration between Joker, Shok-1 and Remi Rough works particularly well, and was completed over the last 2 days.

Previews: Yoshitomo Nara – “Doggy Radio”

Last year, while AM was in Hong Kong, we had a chance to visit HOW2WORK studios and preview their special collaboration with blue-chip Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara. Entitled Doggy Radio this unique project is a functional sculpture created by Nara and designed jointly between Sayers Studios & H2W. Openings: Yue Minjun – “The Tao of Laughter” @ Harbour City – Part I (Hong Kong)

Over the weekend, Chinese blue-chip artist Yue Minjun opened his first ever Hong Kong exhibition at the Ocean Terminal (Harbour City). The Tao of Laughter included twelve new silkscreen works as well as publications for fans to peruse and will be open until October 14, 2012. Upcoming: Tessar Lo – “no evil, live on” @ Jaski Gallery

It’s been almost a year since Tessar Lo had a solo in Amsterdam (covered) where he’ll be returning this weekend for no evil, live on at the Jaski Gallery. The exhibition, entitled with a palindrome, will include smaller works on papers and mixed media pieces from the Toronto-based painter featuring his dream-like imagery. The opening of this show (September 29th, 4-7pm) takes place during OPEN!, the weekend in which the Amsterdam Spiegelkwartier opens the new season. Openings: Fame Festival 2012

After sharing tantalizing photos of some of this year’s Fame Festival murals and some video footage as well, we know have some shots documenting the opening of the group exhibition associated with the event. This year’s stellar lineup included of street artists like Ericailcane, Boris Hoppek, Conor Harrington, Moneyless, Cyop & Kaf, Vhils, Momo, & more and it looks like most of them contributed something to the exhibition including some more experimental ceramic works which is what the town of Grottaglie is known for. Tim O’Brien – Aged Mona Lisa for Discover Magazine

Tim O’Brien, an artist who has been featured here on AM before (see Tupac, Osama bin Laden as well as sweet Charlie Brown painting), has a new magazine cover out. The new painting that ended up being on the front of Discover Magazine’s new issue about the aging world was an older version of Davinci’s muse – Mona Lisa. Fame Fest ’12: Ericailcane (Part II)

After bringing you photos earlier of a wall Ericailcane painted for this year’s Fame Festival, we now have a look at a second mural from the Italian street maestro. Just this past weekend was the opening of the event, so fans who made the trek out to Grottaglie got to enjoy this piece in person. Upcoming: Jacub Gagnon – “More Human Than Human” @ Thinkspace

In November, Jacub Gagnon (interviewed) makes his return to Thinkspace with a new showing entitled More Human Than Human. After a joint showing there in May of last year, the Toronto-based painter will be filling the project room of the Culver City showspace with his surreal take on the natural world. Streets: MadC – “Jurassic Park Wall” (Germany)

Fans of street art who happen to be movie buffs as well might want to check out the work of MadC. This new mural (46 x 20 feet) in Germany is her interpretation of Jurassic Park chock full of dinosaurs, prehistoric imagery, a superimposed urban environment, and thrown in for good measure some graffiti. Releases: Ryan McCann – “Death To Koons” 1xRun Print

Continuing their line of desirable prints, 1xRun has announced their next release – Ryan McCann’s Death To Koons image. The provocative portrayal of the contemporary art giant being dunked into one of his famous basketball tanks comes from McCann’s “Death To…” series (you may remember a previous painting poking fun at Banksy). The 20 x 16″ limited edition comes in a max run of 100, will be available for the next six days, costs $75, and can be purchased here for those interested.
