Streets: Faith47 (Melbourne)

The South Africa-based Faith47 recently sent us a photo of her latest piece, If Winter Comes. The large mural is located in Melbourne where she is in town about to open her joint show entitled Antenna Garden with DAL tonight, April 26th, at Rtist Gallery. While there, the couple will also be speaking at Carbon so make sure you check out both events if you are in the area. A closer look at the mural and showcard after the jump…

Previews: Prune Nourry – “Holy River @ The Invisible Dog

Very soon, Prune Nourry will be exhibiting at The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn. She will be sharing the culmination of a three year project on gender selection focused on India. Entitled Holy River, Ms. Nourry will utilize her dynamic skill set to bring mediums such as sculptures, photography, performance and video to drive her points home. The opening reception is Saturday May 12th from 6pm to 10pm, so try and stop by in you’re in town. Check out a preview after the jump.

Streets: SHEONE – Zion Street Project (Africa)

SHEONE has been a busy little bee since his Paris collabo with Nick Walker. Traveling down to West Africa, the legendary writer worked on the ZION STREET PROJECT created by Wide Open Walls. SHEONE hit up 14 different villages in Gambia and beautified the structures that housed the residents living in the Ballabu Conservation Area. Last week alongside Greg Simkin’s show at Merry Karnowsky, the works of Johnny Rodriguez (KMNDZ) collectively entitled One Step Beyond were also on display. This Friday, Ian Francis (featured) will be unveiling a new series of works entitled 10,000 Years From Now at London’s Lazarides (Rathbone Place). On our recent journey around the globe, we had the pleasure to trek up to Bristol to visit Ian’s studio. After bringing to you part one of our coverage of ROA’s showing with StolenSpace, we move from the main space to The Stone Masons at 17 Osborne Street London E1 6TD. This portion of Hypnagogia seemed to be more installation-based, filled with a bestiary of animals from the Belgium-based artist, cleverly dissected on found objects. Recently at Jonathan LeVine in New York, Nicola Verlato opened up his solo exhibition entitled How The West Was Won alongside a solo from EVOL (covered). To go along with the first five artists (Dave Kinsey, Ron English, Patrick Martinez, James Jean, and Kid Zoom) announced last week for our upcoming City of Fire exhibition at Stephen Webster, we now have another five to reveal. AM was fortunate enough to be able to trek down recently to Washington D.C. and catch Tomokazu Matsuyama’s (interviewed) solo exhibition at the Katzen Arts Center at the American University Museum. Aptly titled Thousand Regards, Matsu presented a balanced mix of works that varied from sculptures, paintings to installations to greet the guests visiting the museum.
