Releases: Paul Insect – “The Ultimate Journey” (Gold) Print

Tomorrow (May 16th) at 6:oo PM (Amsterdam Time), Paul Insect will be releasing new limited edition, The Ultimate Journey – Gold, through Avant Arte. Mirroring some of his recently work, the meticulously produced 10 color screen print embellished with glitter and small diamond dust will have an edition of 70, measure 97 x 71 cm (image size 92 x 67.4 cm), and cost € 1.200,00. Streets: Blek Le Rat (San Francisco)

While in town for his showing (more on this later) at Weinstein Gallery, legendary street artist Blek Le Rat spent some time working some of his stencil magic in San Francisco. Hitting several locations including the Hastings College of Law, the French artist was able make his mark on the area including conjuring up appearances of his famous rat. Earlier this month, Spoke Art’s New York location hosted the opening of Mark Drew’s new solo show. Entitled What Goes On?, the new body of work continues the Tokyo-based artist’s signature juxtaposition of Peanuts comics and 90s rap lyrics. The mashup of hip hop bars with Snoopy & gang by the Australian artist takes two presumably familiar elements for the viewer and generates a new refreshing point of view and interpretation. Releases: YESNIK – “Hollow Heaven” & “King of Kings” Skate Decks

Entitled Hollow Heaven & King of Kings, two skatedecks were recently released by YESNIK featuring some of his signature imagery. Drawing from his experience living in an isolated mountain town in Central California, the Los Angeles-based artist has been painting totemic abstracted elements of the natural landscape for the last several years. Signed and numbered in an edition of 25, the two decks can be purchased as a set or separately for $200 & $125 respectively here. Discuss YESNIK here.

If you missed out on the original release of James Jean’s (interviewed) Washizu figure last year, here’s your chance at the second iteration. The Bone White Colorway of the piece created for Staple’s 20th anniversary (produced by Jasper Wong and Mighty Jaxx) will be available starting 12 May 2018, 10am EDT in a 24-hour timed release ($369) with the edition size determined by the number of orders. Kris Kuksi x US Marine Corps – “Battles Won” Sculptures

At the end of last year, Kris Kuksi revealed a series of three sculptures he worked on for the United States Marine Corps as part of their recruitment campaign. The Battles Won set features bronzes entitled Nation’s Call, Waged In Will, and the nearly seven feet tall At Their Core (seen in more detail here), which were later donated to the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Virginia where they can be viewed.
