The site-specific installation was produced in collaboration with AllRightsReserved and is accompanied by panels of KAWS’ imagery as well as a display of his […]

Streets: Leon Keer (Netherlands)

Recently in the Netherlands, Leon Keer created five street pieces in memory of M.C. Escher in the city of his birth – Leeuwarden. Painted in the anormorphic style that he has become known for, the Dutch artist thrilled the crowds who gathered to watch his work and provided perfect photo ops for the art lovers. Keer’s chosen source of inspiration was a perfect fit for his mind-bending 3D works with Escher also known for impossible objects and plays on perspective. These works were produced with […]

Streets: Mar-1 / RAD Napa Project

Following up our previous coverage of the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace and sponsored by The Napa Valley Wine Train), we now have photos from something Mars-1 (featured) painted recently. Creating a mural from his Infinite Tapestry series next to the railroad tracks, the Bay Area-based artist wove multiple globes of his bubbles together on the two part wall. The organic forms really pop against the stark black background, especially when viewed from the train. Photo & video credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Mars-1 here.

Showing: Inka Essenhigh @ Miles McEnery Gallery

Currently on view until May 25th at Miles McEnery Gallery in New York is a new selection of works from Inka Essenhigh. Returning to the medium of enamel, the locally-based artist has created surreal paintings that continue her imagery of flora and fauna frolicking in the woods, with a hint of inclusion of urban elements. Abstract and figurative at the same time, the cartoonish renderings feature a psychedelic Fantasia-like aesthetic that take the viewer into a different world. Photos via the gallery. Entitled FORNEVER, the exhibition presented canvasses, sculptures, installations, HPMs, prints, and more. The British artist also experimented with a new medium – ‘Memory Trays’ – assemblages of found objects to bring a narrative dimension to his portraits.
