As we mentioned last month, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be opening a show at the StolenSpace Gallery in London entitled Sound and Vision. Looks like he made an early trek across the pond to work on some large-scale public murals of his distinctive imagery including this new piece on Ebor Street in East London. Coming up in October, Shepard Fairey (featured) returns to the StolenSpace Gallery in London for a solo show entitled Sound and Vision. The name of the exhibition is taken from the song of one of his favorite musicians David Bowie and embodies one of the greatest inspirations for Shep’s art – music. Openings: Shepard Fairey – “Americana” @ Perry Rubenstein Gallery

Over the weekend, the debut show at Perry Rubenstein’s newly opened Los Angeles gallery featured new works from Shepard Fairey. Entitled Americana, the exhibition showcased eleven new works, each one inspired by the songs, such as Oh Susannah, This Land Is Your Land and Clementine from Neil Young’s new album Crazy Horse. “Fairey says he listened to the music and lyrics to come up with concepts for visual representations of the songs. Previews: Shepard Fairey – “Americana” @ Perry Rubenstein Gallery

This Saturday, Shepard Fairey will present a fresh body of work created in collaboration with Neil Young. The show entitled Americana is Shep’s interpretations of the songs from Young’s recently released album Crazy Horse. This special exhibition will be held at Perry Rubenstein’s newly opened Los Angeles gallery. For all you Obey fans, there will be a limited edition print set available at the opening which contains silkscreen versions of the artwork created for the show. Discuss Shepard Fairey here.

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Denver)

Tomorrow night (August 3rd) in Denver, the Black Book Gallery will host a three person show from Shepard Fairey, Evan Hecox, and Jim Houser. The Mile-High City last saw Shep’s work at Manifest Hope during the 2008 Democratic National Convention, but if the art community has forgotten, the OBEY crew has been up and about putting up reminders with stickers, stencils and wheat pastes. Streets: Shepard Fairey – “Rise Above Rebel Woman” (Paris)

Shepard Fairey (featured) and the OBEY crew were recently in Paris for a new mural put together by the Mairie of 13th district, Mehdi from Galerie Itinerrance and Butterfly. The piece was part of a unfunded regeneration project of the area, called Street Art 13, which given has huge walls to many international artists. Streets: Shepard Fairey x Glen E. Friedman MCA Tribute (Los Angeles)

We have already directed your attention to two murals (here & here) which marked the passing of late Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys, and now we have another tribute to add to the mix. Shepard Fairey recently has put up several pieces around Los Angeles, utilizing a Glen E. Friedman photo, in remembrance of the music legend at a couple locations (Sunset at Las Palmas and another on Fairfax just south of Santa Monica Boulevard).  RIP. Image via the artist & FRESHNGOOD.
