Releases: Naturel – “Death’s Playground” Print

Graphic designer and artist Naturel recently released a new print entitled Death’s Playground, a continuation of his popular death series. The image features skeletons playing basketball, all rendered in the Chamorro artist’s signature aesthetic that is modern take on cubism. Sized at 27 1/2″ x 19 3/4″, it’s limited to an edition of 23 and can be purchased here for $180.

On February 8th, YESNIK EVAD aka Dave Kinsey will be presenting more work that explores the abstract direction he has taken recently with opening of his show with Cécile Granier de Cassagnac at Jules Maeght Gallery. Entitled Subliminal Sanctuary, the joint exhibition in San Francisco will see the American artist and French painter put on display their approach on portraying of outdoor landscapes with Granier de Cassagnac’s ethereal watercolors striking a nice contrast with Kinsey’s earth-toned totemic acrylic and collage works. Upcoming: Cleon Peterson – “Shadow of Men” @ MCA Denver

This Friday (February 2nd), the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver) will be opening up an exhibition from Cleon Peterson spanning their entire second floor. Featuring the provocative artist’s starkly violent imagery, the show will put on display paintings, sculptures, and murals, including what looks to be a striking “wrap” of the building’s facade. If you plan to attend the winter opening celebration (also welcoming in new exhibitions from Diego Rodriguez-Warner and Arthur Jafa), you will need to procure tickets here. Over the weekend, the ever elusive Banksy unveiled a new piece in East Yorkshire in the city of Hull. Stenciled on what looks to be a permanently raised abandoned drawbridge, the image of a boy with a colander helmet can be seen with a cape and sword with the words DRAW THE RAISED BRIDGE! Releases: James Jean – “The Shape of Water” Print

Currently, James Jean (interviewed) has a time-limited print on release until 7:59 AM PST on Wednesday, January 31st. The Shape of Water was created for the award winning film of the same name with James working directly with Guillermo del Toro to create an image for the official one sheet. Currently at Ratio 3 in San Francisco, Ryan McGinley has on view his latest showing with the gallery entitled Paradiso. The new set of photos from the New York-based artist are prime examples of his signature aesthetic, celebrations of the human form in stunning natural settings. His latest works are the result of photography sessions in upstate New York during the winter and fall seasons, what look to be worthy additions to his much loved Road Trip series.
