Now that her whirlwind tour and shows in Australia are over, it appears Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) is starting to work on her next series of paintings. Judging from this piece (photo put through the Instagram filter), perhaps we will see a more somber body a work and a return to the “dark wood” pieces seen in her show in Italy in 2008 (covered). Streets: WK Interact (Paris)

It looks like Paris recently received a hefty dose of WK Interact and also may have gotten a glimpse at a different side of the NY-based artist. The bondage-inspired works were considerably smaller than the huge mural WK just completed in Mexico (covered), but nevertheless, still made a strong impact on the City of Lights. New York’s highly prestigious Sikkema Jenkins & Co. had many ooohs and aahs by visitors at their Art Basel Miami Beach booth due particularly to the piece above by one of the most talked-about artists recently – Mark Bradford. The Wynwood Walls was a very unique project that brought the arts back to a worn down district of Miami. You may remember earlier this year, July to be exact, when we shared some photos with you of the traveling museum exhibition TRANSFER when it opened at the Brazilian Cultural Pavilion. Well, Barry McGee, whom we last saw at Art Basel Week, had a part in that exhibition and here is footage to prove it. Revelries of unrestrained passions, secret desires, and violent indulgences invaded the New Image Art Gallery recently with the opening of Cleon Peterson’s newest show – Daybreak (previewed). Drawing inspiration from Nietzsche’s Daybreak: Reflections on Moral Prejudices, Peterson seeks to graphically explore both the light and dark sides of the human condition. As you will see, in addition to his usual action-packed landscapes, there were also some interesting abstract works included in this new body of work. More opening images after the jump…
