On Tour: Mark Warren Jacques & Seth Neefus – “Free Life Centre”

Free Life Centre is a touring art installation and performance space conceived and constructed by artists Mark Warren Jacques (interviewed) and Seth Neefus. Last year, the friends and co-owners of Together Gallery (along with fellow artists Timothy Karpinski and David Wien), decided to put out a call for funding for the project, which was answered by friends and supporters. Brett Amory is an artist living and working in San Francisco. Amory graduated from the Academy of Arts in 2005 and has been showing his work all over the country since graduating. Last night, AM stopped by the spacious Lazarides popup gallery in Beverly Hills to take in the four-person show of Vhils, JR, Conor Harrington (interviewed), and Micallef (interviewed). Dubbed “Eurotrash,” the impressive grouping had ample room to each bring a full body of work for all to enjoy. Openings: “Picks of the Harvest” @ Thinkspace Gallery (Culver City Artwalk)

Another stop on the Culver City Artwalk last weekend for us was “Picks of the Harvest” at Thinkspace Gallery. With the recent moves of several of our favorite galleries into the the area, the stroll through the art district has become alot more enjoyable and productive. Headlining the show were the tongue-in-cheek paintings from the always entertaining David MacDowell (featured). Also on display were many other works from the gallery’s roster of artists. Live Painting: Jaybo, Remi/Rough & Juice 126 in London

This Thursday night in London sees Jaybo, also known as Monk, brings his first “ProjectRoom” live painting event to London. Past events in Jaybo’s home city of Berlin have featured Remi/Rough, Marco Grassi, Best/Ever and Herakut (interviewed), and this week the fun comes to the UK with Remi/Rough and Juice 126, who work together in the Agents of Change collective (featured), accompanying Jaybo with a one night only live painting installation in Red Bull’s Studio space. After great shows in San Francisco (covered) and New York (covered), it’s about time that master sculptor Kris Kuksi flexes his muscles across the ocean. Joshua Liner Gallery will host Kris Kuski’s latest body of work to be exhibited at Scope Art Fair at this year’s Basel Week in Switzerland. We all know that Ben Eine’s alphabet shutters can brighten up any street right? Well, we were surprised that before now, Ben had never actually painted a full alphabet down one street, so AM went along to see how Middlesex Street in London, was getting turned into Alphabet Street. A new gallery in town, Electric Blue, had liaised with the local proprietors and shop owners and agreed that the shutters could be painted by Eine all along this largely ‘unpainted’ area sandwiched between Liverpool St […]

This past Saturday, one of the stops we made at the Culver City Artwalk that made us pause for a long while was “Booked” (previewed) at Carmichael Gallery. Focusing on gathering works from some of the brightest names in urban art, they rounded up a interesting mix that would appease even the most critical fan. Check it out after the jump.
