Openings: Andrew Schoultz – “Ex Uno Plura” @ Eric Firestone Gallery

Over this past weekend, San Francisco-based artist Andrew Schoultz visited the Hamptons at Eric Firestone Gallery to unveil a new body of work consisting of his remixed flags. Entitled Exo Uno Plura, the show explores the kinetic compositions referencing the political turmoil in the nation. Further pushing his skills, Andrew told us he worked and weathered the flags to age them. Openings: “Gin & Juice” @ Ivory & Black

Last week, Ivory & Black in London hosted their first group exhibition featuring painters Andrew Schoultz, Cleon Peterson, James Jean, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian. Entitled Gin & Juice, the artists chosen all have been influenced by various Californian subcultures which in turn has informed their work and imagery. Showgoers were also greeted by James Jean (featured) who made the trip over and took time to work in a wall installation. Discuss this show here.

Streets: World Roundup (June 11 – 17)

We start this weeks roundup of street activity with this new fun piece from Dabs Myla. As you can see, their choice of subject matter was quite interesting and can be summed up by their description – “Poop Shooting, Vampire Dicking, and Crack Smoking.” The piece was painted for Roger Gastman for his backyard (thus the Orioles reference). Renewing the the synergy found in Copenhagen during their joint show, Andrew Schoultz and Richard Colman headed up north to work together on another exhibtion – Destroyer. Held at Cooper Cole Gallery in Toronto, the two friends brought along some of their signature imagery in the form of paintings as well as some sweet indoor murals.
