Another collaboration that grabbed our attention during this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii was a long joint mural from Andrew Schoultz and Hannah Stouffer. The waves and kinetic imagery from Schoultz provided a nice contrast to the softer forest renderings and volcanic eruptions of Stouffer, providing an interesting continous landscape for the people who pass by in the industrial district of Kaka’ako. Take a look at some closer shots as well as in-progress pics below… Photos credit: saL. Discuss POW WOW here. Discuss Andrew Schoultz here.

A major component of the POW WOW festival in Hawaii is of course the public art that goes up over a week, mostly in the industrial district of Kaka’ako. AM spent some of the last two days walking the streets chatting to artists and admiring the murals going up that not only display the skills of these painters from all over the world, but often times tests their collaborative problem-solving that occurs when working on joint walls (like the one above between Buff Monster and Nychos). Take […]

Schoultz will also be releasing limited edition prints of four of the skateboards with sales going to charity as well. Discuss this show here. Discuss Andrew Schoultz […]
One of the long-time satellite fairs we always check out during Art Basel Week in Miami is Pulse. As in previous years, the fair was held at The Ice Palace, just south of Wynwood, and consisted of a wide range of domestic and international galleries, including New Image Art, Martha Otero, Yancey Richardson and Mixed Greens. Visitors were greeted outside by installations by Tim Biskup (seen directly below and Brandon Vickerd, and when inside, they were treated to a dizzying array of intriguing contemporary works by young as […]
Earlier this month, the Buddy System Invitational (curated by Sven Davis) opened at the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. The group exhibition centered on the interesting concept having each of the 22 invited artists bring along a fellow artist to exhibit alongside them with each contributing one 16 x 20″ & one 8 x 8″ artwork. Take a look at some photos from the opening below as well as the list of artists below and their “buddies.” Andrew Schoultz – Gianluca Franzese, Ben Venom – Megan Gorham, Brendan Monroe – Anders Oinonen, […]
A couple weeks ago, the Morgan Lehman Gallery in New York welcomed Andrew Schoultz back for his third solo show there simply entitled New Work. Touching on geo-politcal issues through the metaphor of imagery derived from currency, ships, maelstroms, trojan horses, symbols of the illuminati and other common motifs seen in the Mission School artist’s repertoire, the new paintings were set off nicely with a background of bricks and overlapping water features on the walls. Take a look at more photos from the packed opening night below… Discuss Andrew […]

Our latest interview is with artist Adam Feibelman (aka Adam 5100), who hails from New Mexico & has been working in San Francisco for the past sixteen years. His most common medium and technique involves enamel paintings utilizing stencils & stitched paper stencil collages. Adam has a solo exhibition opening tomorrow night at San Francisco’s Guerrero Gallery, so AM enlisted his peer & friend Andrew Schoultz to find out a little more about Adam (including a commission for the new 49ers stadium).
