It’s been quite a while since our last Streets: World Roundup feature, so here are some public works that you may have missed in the last several months. Leading things off is a piece by Os Gemeos at an undisclosed location that highlights the plight of the people affected by the catastrophic dam collapse that resulted in toxic mud flow destroying Bento Rodrigues region in Brazil due to the negligence of mining company Mariana MG. Other murals the caught our eye of late include Invader (Jersey City), […]

Streets: Aryz (Malaga)

Maus Malaga project recently added a new piece to their collection of public artworks and murals. Last week, Aryz visited the city to paint a large mural on the seven story wall of a local Bahia Malaga hotel in the SOHO art district of the city. The Spanish artist spent seven days painting this large detailed piece that continues the more abstract direction he has been working on lately. Staying true to his goal to create massive scale works in the manner of his smaller drawings and sketches, […]

Streets: Aryz (Venezuela)

Recently in Maracay, Venezuela, Aryz completed a massive new mural with the help of Huellas del Arte. Painting on a wall that spanned ten stories high, the prolific Spanish street artist chose to create a touching portrait of a father holding his son in his signature aesthetic. Aryz further states – “As far as I’ve seen, Venezuela is an amazing place, however it is in a tough moment because there is big interest by many countries to make Venezuela collapse. In this type of projects you don’t have the […]

Streets: Aryz (Spain)

Given free reign at the Cultural Forum in Carballo in the community of Galicia in northwest Spain, Aryz painted his imagery on three large adjacent walls despite only having 10 days to complete the task. Two of the murals featured his more figurative work while the other was covered with looks to be a disassembled car. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss Aryz here.

Streets: Aryz (Detroit)

Shortly after opening his successful solo show in LA (covered), Aryz visited Detroit where he painted a new mural. Invited over by the Library Street Collective, the recently finished wall from the Spanish artist was for their Public Matter series. For this piece, Aryz picked his figurative, portraiture style of works and painted this unique sequenced piece. In a similar aesthetic as some of the paintings from his gallery show, this mural is his way of applying painterly skills on a massive scale, which he executed quite nicely. By […]

Showing: Aryz – “PARAL•LEL” (Los Angeles Popup)

Last month, PARAL•LEL opened in Los Angeles (viewings are by appointment only through May 31st), a pop up showing from prolific street artist Aryz. The new body of work touches on some of the surreal scenes seen in the Barcelona-based artist’s public murals including skeletal forms, repeating motifs / patterns, and still life inspired imagery. Along with these paintings rendered in his distinct ghostly aesthetic and color palette, there was also a truck custom covered in his work seen outside. Discuss Aryz here.

On April 25th, Aryz will be opening a pop up show in Los Angeles (1340 E. 6th St.) from 8-10 pm entitled PARAL•LEL. The exhibition from the Barcelona-based muralist will feature the most extensive collection of indoor works to date. Divided into two rooms, the work in one will be a traditionally hung set of paintings while the other space promises to consist of a “high-energy onslaught of expressive works.” This separation plays on the title of the show, and refers to the non-intersecting parts and contradictions […]
