Streets: Augustine Kofie (Venice, California)

The Los Angeles-based Augustine Kofie (featured) recently headed down to work on a new mural installation at the Amplify Campus in Venice, California. Following our recently curated group exhibitions in Hong Kong; East West Connect and Los Angeles; City of Fire, AM’s UK correspondent Sven Davis has branched out with his own curatorial endeavour Space//Form. The group exhibition brings together over 100 young contemporary artists, and opens 6th September at Portland’s Breeze Block Gallery. Streets: World Roundup (July 16 – 22)

Leading off last week’s Streets: World Roundup is this amazing mural (seen above) painted over the course of a year by Josef Kristofoletti. The project was commissioned by the ATLAS Experiment at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and was painted on the side of the ATLAS control room directly above the detector, near the Swiss-French border outside of Geneva by the Texas-based artist. Openings: Augustine Kofie – “Working An Angle” @ Known Gallery

Over the weekend, Known Gallery presented a solo exhibition by artist Augustine Kofie (featured). Titled Working An Angle, this new collection of artwork continues to show the great craftsmanship and style that Kofie continues to perfect. This is the first solo showing for the artist since 2009’s Vintage Futurism (covered) and it also marks his first solo presentation at Known.
