Following up on the new murals we shared with you last week from ROA & Nychos, which were painted for the BUKRUK Urban Arts Festival in Thailand, we now have images of Aryz’s contribution. For this latest piece, the Spanish artist chose for his inspiration something that can often be seen on the streets of Bangkok – the bicycle. Take a look at more detailed and progress shots below… Photo credit: A-line Photography & the artist. Discuss Aryz here.
After a look earlier this week at what ROA painted for the BUKRUK Urban Arts Festival in Thailand, here now is a look at Nychos’ contribution. Taking inspiration from the Bangkok heat, the Austrian street artist painted a rubber ducky on meltdown, of course with the insides revealed with his usual aesthetic. Take a look at more photos below… Photo credit: A-line Photography & the artist. Discuss Nychos here.
Currently in Bangkok, the BUKRUK Urban Arts Festival has seen a steady stream of street artists arrive to leave their mark on the capital city. One of these is ROA, who is painting across the way from Aryz (more on his mural later), and with his usual practice, choosing to use local creatures as his inspiration. The Belgium-based artist’s decision was easy of course, placing two iconic Thai elephants balanced on top of each other as well as cleverly resting their feet on some architectural elements. We just received another series of works that Ludo (interviewed) created around Bangkok before leaving the city and continuing on his Asian tour. The other day, he discovered the popularity of a fake Viagra drug called Kamagra, so he created a piece dedicated to this phenomenon. While he was putting up other works around central BKK, he was approached by locals that seemed to be confused and entertained by the fact that someone was placing works outside like that, especially because they found these paste-ups […]
French artist Ludo (interviewed) is still in Bangkok, finding out new things about the Thai people and the culture and placing his pieces on the streets. Since his work is focused on modified and morphed flora and fauna, he had to create a special piece for his temporary hometown. His received inspiration after finding out about the local’s obsession with the strongly aromatic durian fruit. He was also visiting a local Thai box club, and pasted one of his pineapple pieces around the corner from it, as well […]
We just heard back from Ludo, (interviewed) who is still in Bangkok putting up works around the Thai capital and shooting a video for his upcoming solo show in the UK, all while fighting the hot humid weather. Last time we heard from him (covered), he started to get a better feel of the city and realized how many interesting spots there are. Even government and royal family-related buildings being strictly off limits, he is having a hard time deciding which walls to place his works on. The armed […]
Ludo (interviewed) recently took off for Asia for the first time, and is currently in Thailand where he is experiencing the bustling and chaotic life in Bangkok. Along with undergoing the eclectic mix of new things and experiencing life outside the references and markers he grew up with, he is also creating some new street work in Thai capital. As elsewhere in the world he worked, locals are having hard time understanding the idea of pasting up posters that don’t advertise any brands. This kind of view raises […]
