Streets: Miss Van (Brazil) – Part II

Recently, French street painter Miss Van has been spending quite a bit of time in Brazil. Streets: Eduardo Kobra (Brazil)

After making hitting both coasts of the US with his mural work (New York & Los Angeles), Eduardo Kobra has returned home for a new large scale project in Brazil. The 52 meter tall piece covers the entire side of a skyscraper on Paulista Avenue, one of Sao Paulo’s busiest streets, and is Kobra’s tribute to the famed Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, who passed away last December at the age of 104. Streets: Miss Van (Brazil)

Street femme fatale and intrepid traveller Miss Van has been spotted in frolicking in Brazil, in particular getting up in Sao Paulo. While visiting friends like Zezao and Ciro Schu, she took time to paint one of her signature Poupee characters near an abandoned factory – one of her first outdoor pieces for 2013. Streets: Vhils (Brazil)

After hitting up a slate of festivals recently (Komafest, Walk & Talk, and Fame Festival), Portuguese sensation Vhils has headed over to Brazil for a project of his own. These new pieces created through some of the favelas of Rio de Janeiro attempt to bring attention to the inhabitants of these slum areas. Streets: Olek (Brazil)

Last we heard from Olek, she was in her home town of Katowice working her yarn-bombing magic on a couple of escavators for a street art festival. Now, the Polish knitter, who was recently named as one of the Smithsonian’s 40 under 40: Craft Futures artists, has surfaced in São Paulo, Brazil to do some work for SESC where she created “Crocheted Jacaré” for their playground, covering an alligator shaped installation designed by Marcia Maria Benevento.
