Israeli street artist Know Hope’s Los Angeles solo debut “the times won’t save you (this rain smells of memory)” (previewed) opened to a packed house at the Carmichael Gallery. Patrons were in awe with his intricate gallery installation echoing the theme of the show, which was comprised of cardboard buildings, his signature characters, paper raindrops and fishing twine. Equally as impressive was Know Hope’s latest series of works, which featured a free-form poem of sorts, with a powerful coupling of words and images of his characters in […]

Last night, the Carmichael Gallery in Hollywood pulled no punches with their all-star show, “Get Rich Quick!,” showcasing the strongest talents in the street and urban art genre. Some scorching hot pieces lined the gallery’s walls for the exhibition, including: a rare Banksy canvas, a KAWS ad disruption, boxes and screen-printed collages from Faile, to originals by Barry McGee and Micallef and much more. Visiting the gallery was like seeing a modern day museum retrospective of the last five years in urban art. Truly amazing. AM has all the […]

Openings: BOXI – “Grey Area” & Neo-Con Collective + Zeus – “Hollowood” @ Carmichael Gallery

Berlin-based stencil artist BOXI made his United States solo show debut with “Grey Area” (previewed) which opened this past Thursday at Carmichael Gallery. Patrons were captivated by BOXI’s photo-realistic work and found themselves immersed in the barren world his subjects reside in. Filled with emotion, the work is visually arresting and something that should be experienced in person if you’re in the Los Angeles area. The Neo-Con Collective and London urban artist Zeus overhauled the rear of the gallery with “Hollowood,” featuring Ellis G’s (Seen […]

Preview/Setup: BOXI – “Grey Area” @ Carmichael Gallery

AM is excited about Berlin-based stencil artist BOXI’s debut United States solo show “Grey Area” opening this Thursday, April 9th at Carmichael Gallery. Best described as a “figurative Logan Hicks,” the photo-realistic effect of his work is the result of a meticulous and labor intensive process involving six separate layers of hand-cut stencils and an equal variation of grayscale coats of paint. This unique technique combined with his formal training at London’s St. Martins School of Art and Design lends to pieces that are rich, […]

(Seen on the streets), the man of colorful geometric shapes Aakash Nihalani (Update) and ad disruptor extraordinaire Poster Boy.
