Four Seasons is a new solo exhibition by Pedro Matos featuring four new oil paintings. Showing: James “Dalek” Marshall @ Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art

James Marshall, or better known as Dalek (interviewed) by some of his fans, recently finished a series of murals at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Painting his distinctive color spectrum style throughout the institution including the SMoCA Lounge, Store@SMoCA, and a mural (co-commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art) in the outdoor courtyard wall that leads to SMoCA’s permanent James Turrell Skyspace, the Hurley affiliated artist and designer certainly left his mark. Haroshi – “Battle At The Berrics VII” Trophy

Sculptor Haroshi (featured), who is deeply embedded in skate culture, has designed the trophy for The Battle At The Berrics VII. A fitting collaboration as the unique aesthetic of the Japanese artist features recycled skateboards as his raw materials. If you remember, Haroshi also created the BATB 5 trophy featuring a middle finger salute. This time around he decide to go with a lower leg and foot. Coming up in October, Antony Micallef returns (see 2012) to show with Lazarides at a yet to be disclosed popup location in London. I Love That You Love What I Love will see the gifted painter reveal provocative new large-scale works alongside a selection of studies often featuring his distorted and unearthly figures that speak to what lies deep inside his psyche. David Shrigley for Sketch Restaurant (London)

Like what Damien Hirst’s art did for the Tramshed Restaurant, David Shrigley has now done for sketch in London. The Turner Prize nominated and Fourth Plinth commissioned artist contributed 239 new works (available for purchase through Stephen Friedman Gallery) for the restaurant that now line the walls, the largest group of drawings that he has created. In addition, Shrigley has contributed new ceramic tableware (available for purchase online next year) that feature his distinctive text. Discuss David Shrigley here.

During AM‘s recent trip we stopped by the streets of Shanghai to participate in the phenomenon that is the Inside / Out photobooth truck. Next to follow that up, we stopped by Magda Danysz to catch JR’s (interviewed) latest show. Running concurrently and staggered with the current G I R L exhibition at Galerie Perrotin in Paris starting Thursday night (June 12th) will be a new show from Daniel Arsham. Openings: “Space//Squared” @ White Walls Gallery

Last month, White Walls Gallery in San Francisco opened a group exhibition entitled Space//Squared. Curated by Sven Davis, the showing was a followup to an event last year in Portland (covered). This time around, participating artists were again asked to contribute artwork in a 10 x 10″ format. Tonight in Seattle, Winston Wächter Fine Art will be opening a solo show from Zaria Forman, who we featured in an Art Focus article earlier this year. The exhibition holds special meaning for the Brooklyn-based artist, as her exquisite paintings will be shown alongside the photographs of her late mother, Rena Bass Forman. The two of them traveled together to see the natural wonders of the world in places like Greenland, Iceland, Patagonia and India, inspiring Zaria’s own interest in documenting disappearing places.
