Upcoming: KAWS @ Galerie Perrotin (Seoul)

Coming up this weekend, KAWS will be presenting new works to his fans in Korea at Galerie Perrotin’s new outpost. The newly opened space (1F 5 PALPAN-GIL, JONGNO-GU) will be the setting for the New York-based artist’s first visit to Seoul City. Look for more paintings featuring his continually evolving abstractions of his favorite cartoon, comic, and pop culture inspired characters. The show runs from June 2nd to August 27th. Art16 returned to Olympia, London from 19–22 May for the fourth year of this contemporary art fair. More than 100 galleries were brought together from over 30 countries, along with not-for-profit exhibitors and commissioned-artist installations. Earlier this month, a show featuring new charcoal and graphite drawings on paper by Joel Daniel Phillips opened up at San Francisco’s Hashimoto Contemporary. Belongings comprises of mainly four large-scale portraits interesting paired with solitary objects (on similarly shaped paper) that serves as an extension of their characters. As part of their pre-summer program, Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan recently opened a group show titled Mint Julep. Featuring works by Maya Hayuk, Cleon Peterson, Revok, and Francesco Igory Deiana, the exhibition opened on May 18th and will stay on view through July 22nd. The idea of this show was to mix artists and their diverse styles into a fresh, attractive installation, similar to a Mint Julep cocktail, made by mixing bourbon, ice, sugar and mint into a refreshing drink. Amsterdam’s Andenken Gallery is making final preparations for TWO solo shows opening on June 11th – Jaime Molina will be presenting a new body of work titled Desolation Slang, and Adrian Landon Brooks will introduce Miracle Worker.
