Streets: Wall Therapy Festival (Part I) – DALeast

Last week, the South Africa-based DALeast sent over photos of a new mural he painted up in Rochester, New York for the Wall Therapy Festival. Held from July 20-28, the urban beautification project will also feature artists like Case, ROA, How & Nosm, Eine, Faith47, and Liqen. We’ll have more for you soon, but for now, check out this impressive whale mural structured from DAL’s signature kinetic whirls and strokes. Discuss DAL here.

First up for this week’s Rewind feature is this video showing Evan Roth’s novel use of spray cans from his Propulsion Painting series (via today and tomorrow). These creations were featured in his recently opened Welcome to Detroit showing at Eastern Michigan University. You can see more footage of the work here if you are interested. Street typography connoisseur, Ben Eine, recently paid a trip to Mexico to get up on some walls. With almost a month to paint his signature lettering, the UK-based artist has done alot of damage so far with more to come. In particular, a long piece that spells out “The Bread Of The Rich Is The Struggle Of The Poor” caught out eye. See that piece and more after the jump…

This week’s world roundup of street work is heavily tilted towards Art Basel Week Miami. With so many artists in town, there was bound to be some overlap on walls and in some cases – collaborations. While on our way to hit up a plethora of shows associated with Art Basel Week Miami last night at the Design District, we passed by the The Living Room installation.
