Opening & Closing: The Hole’s “RE:FORM School” Charity Exhibit

A couple weekends ago, The Hole in conjunction with non-profit organization Redu called upon a diverse collection of artists to help shine a much needed light on the increasingly strained American school systems by donating their talents to raise money for educational reform. Aptly dubbed RE:FORM School, the show brought together an eclectic array of contemporary and street artists, including Shepard Fairey, Faile, WK Interact, Mel Kadel, Ron English, Greg Lamarche, Gary Baseman, Chris Johanson, SWOON, Friends With You, Jim Houser, TrustoCorp, Ryan Bubnis and […]

Releases: “Trespass: A History Of Uncommissioned Urban Art”

Recently, AM attended the VIP preview of Tachen’s latest art book: Trespass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban Art. Written by Carlo McCormick, curated by our friends Marc & Sara Schiller at the Wooster Collective, and edited by Ethel Seno, this behemoth houses tons of pictures documenting graffiti and other forms of unsanctioned art all around the globe. It features works from 150 artists including AM favorites such as Keith Haring, Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, Faile, Ron English and Blu. From the moments the doors opened, there was […]

Teaser: Faile – “Bedtime Stories” @ Perry Rubenstein Gallery

Next month, after making their debut in a earlier group show with Perry Rubenstein, FAILE will be presenting their solo show “Bedtime Stories” at the New York gallery. Needless to say, this is a significant show for the Patricks and the movement in general so we will be keeping an eye on this. We’ll have more to follow soon, but for now, check out the new prayer wheel they installed in Brooklyn after the jump…

Releases: Faile Bunny Boy Bronze (Deep Cherry Patina)

Among some of the items dropped today in Faile’s webstore is the third colorway for their iconic “Bunny Boy” sculpture. The newest patina for this bronze limited edition piece is “Deep Cherry”, and like the “Chocolate Brown” and “British Racing Green” (seen in our studio visit) iterations before it, will produced in a run of 10 and cost $4000 each. Photos from some different angles after the jump…

Openings: Faile Book Launch & Show @ LES Pop-Up in NYC

On Thursday, AM braved the stormy streets of New York to attend the launch event at Faile’s pop-up gallery where the Brooklyn duo kicked off the release of their soon-to-be bestseller “Prints + Originals 1999–2009” (previewed). Published by Gestalten, this hefty book gives us an inside look at the bread and butter behind Faile’s rise to prominence – the prints and their unique silkscreening/collaging techniques. Also, the Patricks have made multiple variants of the book. From hand signed “studio editions” to limited silk-screened versions (5 different covers front and back in editions […]

Openings: 10 Years of Fecal Face @ The Luggage Store

Last Friday, San Francisco celebrated an amazing ten year run for Fecal Face, source of all art in the Bay Area. The ten year anniversary show held at The Luggage Store included many of the artists that have been featured on their website of which AM’s readers are sure to be familiar with as well. Take a look at all the great pieces in the show after the jump (including this Mars-1 piece seen above)…

Streets: Specter – “Unwanted Collaborations / Sidebusts”

Usually, messing with another artist’s work is considered poor form, but perhaps not so with a recent project by Specter. “Unwanted Collaborations / Sidebusts” sees the New York based artist rehabilitate and give fresh life to distressed and dissed street works from artists we are all familiar with. Check out his subtle touch on this Faile (featured) piece above and the Swoon (interviewed) piece after the jump, but also take a look at the before and after pics of these and other examples on his website.

Check Out the Faile Temple Website

The wild ride for fans of Faile’s (featured) project for PortugalArte ‘10 isn’t about to stop soon as the impressive Temple installation has been extended for viewing until September 5th for anyone who is lucky enough to stop by Lisbon. For those who aren’t in the area and can’t get enough of photos of the Temple, our friends at Faile created a great site dedicated to giving you a detailed look into this project. Check it out at failetemple.net Also remember that Faile has a book “Faile: […]

Another Look Inside Faile’s Studio

Someone recently posted up a link to pics of their visit to Faile’s studio. It’s always nice to see the creative workspace of one of the most respected artists in the street art movement as we’ve had, in the past, the pleasure to do ourselves. With this new look at the studio, assuming it’s recent, it looks like the Patricks have recovered from their epic temple install in Lisbon, and now have plenty of works in progress for perhaps their solo with Perry Rubenstein in […]

Video: Faile – “Temple” @ PortugalArte ’10 (Vernissage TV)

After sharing some photos of the impressive Faile (featured) installation with you recently, we now bring you some video footage from Vernissage TV. Seeing the “Temple” in the context of the surrounding architecture in Praça dos Restauradores, one of the major squares in the center of Lisbon, definitely gives us more of an appreciation of what the Patricks accomplished. Not only did they fully execute a temple in “ruins” with their signature imagery, the Brooklyn duo were able to create something that fit in perfectly […]
