Eric Firestone Gallery in East Hampton is currently hosting the Positivilly Marvillainous group show, a title borrowed from the smart word play of George Herriman, the creator of the Krazy Kat comic. The time had come for another Streets World Roundup here on AM. Leading things off is a complex new work of art from Felice Varini in Hasselt, Belgium for the “De Unie Hasselt-Genk” exhibition. The spiral-like piece which plays with perspective was painted on the roofs and facades of 99 buildings and can only be properly seen from one vantage point. Take a look at more here. Last weekend, New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art premiered its retrospective of American artist Jeff Koons. Simply entitled A Retrospective, this exhibition bears significant importance to both parties. Followers of KAWS and his pop culture infused abstractions have always been impressed with his clean lifework and impeccable attention to detail. Taking a look at his Brooklyn studio, designed by Wonderwall in 2013, one can see similarities in the street turned contemporary artist’s taste in architecture. Streets / World Tour: Jeff Soto (Bordeaux, France)

Southern California native, Jeff Soto (interviewed), recently traveled to Bordeaux, France where he had a chance to work on several art-related projects. First up is this wall he painted for the Darwin project and Spacejunk, his fourth mural in France (also see Lyon here & here). The Riverside-based artist took care to incorporate local graffiti into his mural featuring some old school imagery, expertly painting on the difficult corrugated siding.
