With his exhibition Palimpsest at Harvard’s Reischauer Institute (covered) still on view, the always ambitious Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) opens The Standard Rendez-Vous at Zidoun & Bossuyt in Luxembourg. Frieze Art Fair returns to London from 17 to 20 October 2013 showcasing 152 galleries from around the world. Highlights this year include the Gagosian Gallery, displaying five large scale works by pop artist Jeff Koons, from his stainless steel inflatable sculptures series to his Sacred Heart sculpture. Following the recent announcement for the release of the Jeff Koons x Dom Pérignon Sculpture Package (covered here), we were invited to the launch party during Frieze art week in London. For those who can’t afford the £15,500 which includes a mini-Balloon Venus along with the Rosé champagne inside, you can opt for the special Koons boxes of Dom Pérignon Blanc de Blancs (£130) and Rose (£315) sold at a pop-up at Claridge’s. This past weekend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) opened its doors to unveil the much anticipated exhibition by KAWS. The show featured 70 works (old & new) at the historic institution and included both paintings and sculptures that spans some major milestones of the artist’s storied career to date.
