On March 20th, Jonathan Yeo will be unveiling a series of portraits he has been working on with Cara Delevingne at Denmark’s Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle in Copenhagen. He choose the English fashion model and actress as his muse because of her ability to change and curate her image in this age of social media. LA Art Show ’16: Recap

Last week, the LA Art Show was in town for another go around bringing in more than 120 galleries representing 22 countries. The 2016 edition was the 21st iteration of the fair, but third year for a special section of the event entitled Littletopia (see 2014, 2015). Upcoming: Marcel Dzama x New York City Ballet

Following collaborations with Dustin Yellin, JR, and Faile, the New York City Ballet will be working with Marcel Dzama on their fourth annual Art Series. The Brooklyn-based artist will be unveiling a Promenade chessboard installation featuring video, drawings, and sculpture as well as designing the sets and costumes for The Most Incredible Thing, which is based on a Hans Christian Anderson story. Yesterday, Tristan Eaton revealed a project he has been working on getting started for the past five years – a plan to paint the Red Sands Sea Forts off the coast of the UK along with Shepard Fairey, Futura, How & Nosm, and The London Police. One month since his series of works were revealed in Jungle refugee camp in Calais, Banksy just created a new piece in London. Discovered earlier today on the French embassy, the stenciled image features a girl from Les Misérables, tearing up as CS gas flows over her. This wall, which includes a French flag and the iconic girl from the famous musical, comments on the events from the 5th and 6th of January when French authorities used tear gas, rubber bullets and concussion grenades while attempting to clean up a section of the camp. Currently at the 533 West 19th Street location of David Zwirner in New York, collaborative works collectively entitled Forgetting the Hand by Marcel Dzama and Raymond Pettibon are on display. This is the first time the two locally-based artists have worked together and their modified exquisite corpse technique of swapping a series of drawings to work on where part of what the other person did is concealed leads to some interesting results.
