Upcoming: EVOL – “Mind the Gap” @ Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale

For the upcoming Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale in Russia, the Berlin-based EVOL has prepared a special installation featuring his signature reproduction of urban structures. The twist on this piece though, entitled Mind the Gap, is the red-tinged separation that runs right down the center of the buildings. The 11th biennale opens in Karsnoyarsk, Siberia at the Krasnoyarsk Museum Center on September 30th. Coming up on November 7th, James Jean (interviewed) will be opening a solo show in Tokyo at the Hidari Zingaro Gallery. Openings: Geoff McFetridge – “It Looks Like It Says” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Last week, It Looks Like It Says opened at Joshua Liner Gallery, the latest solo from Geoff McFetridge. The exhibition consisted of a series of large scale works as well as smaller works on paper arranged together on one wall of the New York showspace. The Los Angeles-based artist’s first solo with the gallery introduced fans in the area to his minimalistic aesthetic, emphasizing basic forms and plays on perspective. Discuss Geoff McFetridge here.

On October 10th, Matt Dangler (interviewed) will be opening a new solo at Copro Gallery, the site of his showing in Los Angeles in 2012 (covered). Entitled Sanctify, the title is perhaps a hint at some of the heavier topics that the gifted painter will be exploring with his surreal vision. As one of the selected artists for the Rumsey St. Project, Mark Dean Veca (interviewed) was recently invited into Michigan to create a site-specific installation. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County has offered SiTE:LAB the use of nearly three acres of land in Grand Rapids’ Roosevelt Park neighborhood where they invited local and international artists in to create works in response to the vacant land and structures.
