Openings: Geoff McFetridge – “It Looks Like It Says” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Last week, It Looks Like It Says opened at Joshua Liner Gallery, the latest solo from Geoff McFetridge. The exhibition consisted of a series of large scale works as well as smaller works on paper arranged together on one wall of the New York showspace. The Los Angeles-based artist’s first solo with the gallery introduced fans in the area to his minimalistic aesthetic, emphasizing basic forms and plays on perspective. Discuss Geoff McFetridge here.

Previews: Matt Dangler – “Sanctify” @ Copro Gallery

On October 10th, Matt Dangler (interviewed) will be opening a new solo at Copro Gallery, the site of his showing in Los Angeles in 2012 (covered). Entitled Sanctify, the title is perhaps a hint at some of the heavier topics that the gifted painter will be exploring with his surreal vision. During our recent travels abroad to catch the opening of Banksy’s Dismaland, we also made a few stops to see friends of ours across the pond. The murals are coming fast and furious now that the twins are on a roll. Hot on the heels of work in New York, Naestved, and Minsk, Os Gemeos have now moved on to Lithuania for their latest project. For the last several years, summer in Europe means a lot of street art festivals producing some amazing murals. This year, Brazilian twin brothers Os Gemeos are spending some time on the old continent, but taking a bit of a different route than majority. On October 10th (6-10pm), Flower Pepper Gallery in Old Town Pasadena will be presenting Randy Hage’s Façade. Streets: Mark Dean Veca – “Pony Show” / SiTE:LAB

As one of the selected artists for the Rumsey St. Project, Mark Dean Veca (interviewed) was recently invited into Michigan to create a site-specific installation. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County has offered SiTE:LAB the use of nearly three acres of land in Grand Rapids’ Roosevelt Park neighborhood where they invited local and international artists in to create works in response to the vacant land and structures. On October 17th, Offering from Martin Wittfooth (interviewed) will be opening at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York (529 West 20th Street). The exhibition will feature all new paintings, including this 73″ x 100″ beast of piece seen above entitled Rainsong. We love the new burst of color seen in this new imagery and can’t wait to see what else he has planned. Showing: Kelsey Brookes – “Psychedelic Space” @ Quint Gallery

Currently at Quint Gallery in La Jolla is a showing from Kelsey Brookes that coincides with the release of his new book Psychedelic Space. On display are a series of paintings and prints as well as a video that explains his recent series of works that use the molecular structures of neurotransmitters and psychedelic substances as their starting point.
