Streets: TrustoCorp (New York)

Since the TrustoLand installation and show at Art Basel Week Miami last year, we haven’t had any updates on satiric street pranksters TrustoCorp. As of late though, there has been more activity spotted around New York, but we wanted to first bring your attention to these phone booth interventions featuring parodies of popular reality shows with The Real Housewives of Baghdad seen above and The Real World [North Korea] seen after the jump…

Streets: Invader (São Paulo)

After celebrating his 1000th piece placed in the streets with a huge show in Paris, it looks like Invader is continuing onward towards 2000.  Take a look at these new pieces in the Brazilian street art mecca of São Paulo. Of interest are the daring placements, the use of tiles with local flavor, locations next to local talent, and even a rare throw-up from the French street tile master. Perhaps he is in town for a group show opening this weekend at São Paulo Museum […]

Creative Process – Tran Nguyen

You may recognize the piece above, Cast Into A Rippled Mentality, from Tran Nguyen’s show at Thinkspace Gallery last month (covered). She has now posted some images on her blog showing the step by step creation of the painting which allows us to once again reprise our Creative Process feature for you enjoyment. Pics from drawing to completion after the jump…

Overtime: August 8 – August 14

Banksy’s comment on the UK phone tapping scandal. Anders Breivik, mastermind of worst terrorist attack in Norwegian history, self-proclaims he was “once one of the most influential graffiti artists in Norway” (under name MORG). Shepard Fairey’s HOPE image turned around on Obama in a political cartoon. More Kidult tagging, this time of a Kenzo store in Paris (video). KAWS ad disruption piece stolen from Marc Ecko art gallery. New street work by Gaia, Isaac Cordal, El Mac, Fintan Magee, Insa, and Elbow-Toe. Revok, Rime, & […]

Art Focus: Amy Bennett

We’ll be re-purposing our Art Focus feature a little by using it to introduce you to artists that are new to us or those not reported on frequently here on AM. First up is Brooklyn artist Amy Bennett who uses the interesting technique of building miniature sets and then using them as reference for her remarkable paintings. Not only are they rendered beautifully giving you an almost painted equivalent to tilt-shift photographs, she also manages to infuse her compositions with subtle storytelling that leaves one […]

Shepard Fairey and his mural attacked in Copenhagen

As you know, Shepard Fairey’s (featured) was just in Copenhagen for his show at V1 Gallery (covered). We had privately been told by multiple sources that him and Romeo Trinidad of OBEY Clothing had been attacked while in town, but didn’t want to write about it until there was official word released (which just happened). Suffice it to say, it was a complicated situation in part perpetuated by misinformation in the press surrounding the first mural in a series of murals he did on the streets. […]

Streets: COPE2 (Copenhagen)

Copenhagen has been a pretty popular destination for international artists recently. After only recently been gifted multiple murals from Shepard Fairey’s (featured), who was in town for his solo show (covered), renowned graffiti king COPE2 arrived to paint his famous “bubble” tags on an adjacent wall next to one of Shep’s pieces. The South Bronx wildstyle legend is in town for his own exhibition at Halvandet (more on the opening later). More views of the mural thanks to Henrik Haven after the jump…

Streets: Anthony Lister Murals (Los Angeles) Part I

Anthony Lister (interviewed) made unbelievably good use of his time when he was in Los Angeles recently for a show at HVW8 getting up all around town. With no less than eight different murals accounted for, we’ll be splitting them up into two articles to make them easier for fans to digest. Starting things off will be the piece he did in Downtown LA (Setup by L.A. Free Walls & Brooklyn Street Art) seen above and then we will move on to the HVW8 gallery […]

Streets: Shepard Fairey (Copenhagen) Part III

Here are some more photos of our four part series as Shepard Fairey (featured) continued to assault the streets prior to his show that opened last night in Denmark at the V1 Gallery (more on this soon).  You can refer to part 1 and part 2 of our coverage where you can see the OBEY crew busy the entire week stenciling and wheatpasting on the streets of Copenhagen. More photos taken for us by Henrik Haven after the jump…

Streets: London Instagram Roundup

Since the last AM London Instagram Roundup, quite a bit has being going on. First up, it was great to see Mobstr’s newly painted shutters with the words “Huh?” repeated in black and white to make up one giant “Huh?” Also, the side door to Stolen Space Gallery had a wonderful make over by Word to Mother, very nice. Sweet Toof is still being very active hitting up another roller piece with artist Smells, and also some other new work around from him too. There […]
