Streets: LUDO (Paris)

Parisian street artist LUDO (interviewed) continues to defend his home turf with another piece in the City of Lights, this time in the middle of the main thoroughfare,  Champs-Elysees. The new addition to the streets is a continuation of his Nature’s Revenge series, a melding of nature and machine. More photos after the jump…

Streets: INSA (SF)

London-based artist INSA recently recently paid San Francisco a visit and threw up a mural featuring his signature imagery. The man with a love for heels is in town getting ready for his show More at Fifty24SF, which is slated to open on February 3rd. Hit up the corner of Scott and Oak if you are in the Bay Area and check this out in person. More photos after the jump…

Streets: Slinkachu – “The Last Resort”

Miniature photographer Slinkachu recently posted up a new street installation on his blog entitled The Last Resort. This piece is the first of many in a new body of work he is preparing for his solo Concrete Ocean at Andipa Gallery coming up in March. This will be his second show at the London gallery and if his last show there was any indication, fans will be treated to an intriguing mixture of new images and installations. More views of this piece after the jump…

Creative Process: Scott Musgrove

Seattle-based contemporary artist Scott Musgrove is a master of his craft. One of the preeminent members of the popsurrealist movement, he is known not only for his endless imagination in dreaming up extinct animal species and the wild worlds they inhabit, but also for his painterly expertise with oils in executing his whimsical vision. This technical proficiency and fantastical creativity was on full display during his solo exhibition, How Is The Empire? (covered), with Jonathan LeVine Gallery last year. For collectors and art enthusiasts alike, […]

Details: KAWS x The Standard Light Bulb Set

We’re suckers for a great idea and also impatient when it comes to waiting for the delivery guys. So after posting about the KAWS x Standard Light Bulb Set, we headed to The Standard NY to cop this hot collaboration. Upon arrival, we were excited to see the shop already had the bulbs nicely installed. Even in the daylight the glowing XX’s were apparent from the dangled housing. The boxes were cleanly packaged and reminded us of our first fresh box of KK’s! Like all […]

Streets: Dain (New York)

We’ve showed you some of Dain’s gallery work in the past (New York ’09, Paris ’10), but not much of his street work. It looks like what may be new pieces have popped up recently in Brooklyn and luckily for us, the Brooklynite Gallery was around to document it. More after the jump…

Streets: New Banksy Work in London & BAFTA Nomination

In near perfect synchronicity with the “Sperm” piece Banksy officially claimed as his own through his website last week, another work popped up in the London Borough of Camden which bears striking resemblances to that of the illustrious street artist. The “Living Room” themed chalk piece, with stencil detail accents reminiscent of murals thrown up in Boston and Detroit last year, is located at the same canal wall where the infamous Banksy vs. Robbo battle began, only for it to keep going and going at […]

Overtime: Jan. 9 – Jan. 15

A nice video of Swoon in Paris probably while she was there for a show. Futura x 12oxProphet Trailer. New work from Mesa in Spain. Some new pics of Os Gemeos’s work on their blog. Another Warhol authenticity dispute.  Original Factory assistant Gerard Malanga sues John Chamberlin for selling a painting he created and claiming it was a Warhol.  Complicated by fact that piece was approved as genuine by Warhol Authentication Board. Damien Hirst generates more controversy over diamond skull. One reason to tune into […]

Seen on the erm, Beaches: Beach Art by Sam

We didn’t really have a category to list this post this great video under – we have ‘seen on the streets’, but maybe now AM needs a ‘seen on the beaches’ section – Maybe as well as a street art section, we need one for ‘land art’. Samuel Dougados is a French artist who makes his art on the beaches of Northern Europe. He goes simply by the name of Sam. Sam sent a series of pictures to us here and we just had to […]

Streets / Teaser: Escif @ Fifty24SF

Take a look at this sweet new street piece from Escif entitled “Black Kiss.” We were originally going to save this for Valentine’s but we also wanted to take the chance to tell our SF readers about his upcoming show at Fifty24SF in June. The Spanish artist will be showing alongside compatriot SAN with hopefully some collaborative pieces in the works. We would love to see some murals, installations, and larger works that have not been seen much in previous shows like the one Escif […]
