Streets: Flying Fortress (Frankfurt)

At the end of last month, Montana Cans in Germany hosted a two day event, Just Writing My Name, where graf artists were invited to paint the Friedensbrücke bridge in Frankfurt. Munich-based legend Flying Fortress, who we met at this year’s POW WOW, participated with this long mural featuring “The Hit Collection.” Check out the full wall as well take a look at a video documenting the going-ons after the jump…

We have a little catching up to do on our world street mural roundup feature. Leading things off is this sweet rooftop shot of one of Phlegm’s telescopic pieces taken by critical mass. POW WOW ’12 / Streets: 123 Klan x Flying Fortress x Aaron De La Cruz x Slick

The ocean and the gnarly waves are some of the elements that are synonymous with the Hawaii islands and this year’s POW WOW made sure to make their mark on some water front property. The 123Klan, Slick, Flying Fortress and Aaron De La Cruz hit up the old derelict Fisherman’s Wharf with some marine-themed urban action to greet passerby’s. More photos after the jump…

Across from Loft In Space, the neighboring wall was attacked by 123Klan, Slick, and Flying Fortress for some of the outdoor portion go POW WOW. Almost completed, the piece features elements specific to Hawaii like their love for shaved ice, volcanoes, and orchids to more serious topics like how Dole Pineapple has affected the indigenous people. Makes sure you make out to the opening tonight (6-10pm) to see the mural in person, but for now – more detailed shots after the jump…

This week’s featured wall for our street art roundup from around the world is a sweet collaborative piece between Austrian artist Nychos and the German-based old school legend Flying Fortress. This mother bear mural was created when Mr. Fortress stopped by Vienna for a visit and if you are interested, you can see more footage in a video here. Teaser: POW WOW 2012 (Hawaii)

In a couple weeks, the AM crew will be heading over Hawaii to this year’s POW WOW. Curated by Jasper Wong and hosted by Loft In Space / Fresh Cafe in Oahu, the art retreat will feature a extensive lineup of artists painting the surrounding industrial district of Kaka’ako. Along with beautifying the streets, the event will culminate with opening on February 18th featuring original artwork from the participants.
