We recently came across the work of Odeith and his mind-bending form of anamorphic graffiti that seems to leap out at you from certain vantage points. Adrian Falkner aka Smash137 recently opened his solo show on the 27th of November at Galerie Neuheisel in Saarbrücken, Germany. Alëxone Dizac’s Banana Spleen, an impressive solo show at David Bloch Gallery in Marrakech recently opened, turning the gallery space into a small section of his surrealist universe. Leonard McGurr, better known as Futura, recently opened a show at Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow, exactly 30 years since his first visit to the Soviet Union. Back in 1984, the artist was photographed breakdancing on Moscow’s Red Square, which was a symbolic act during tense Cold War times. Streets: Crash x Daze (New York)

As part of the continuing L.I.S.A Project in New York City’s Little Italy, Crash and Daze were recently invited to collaborate on a wall on Mulberry Street. For the two legendary NY writers, the mural was a natural extension of their friendship and professional lives as they share a studio together and were one of the first to make the jump from the streets to the gallery back in the 80’s. Tonight, in the middle of a hot NYC summer, Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be opening a group exhibition entitled Cruel Summer. Curated by collector, graffiti historian and urban anthropologist Roger Gastman, the exhibition is inspired by the summer of 1984 and the song Cruel Summer by Bananarama. After their mural collaboration for POW! WOW! Hawaii earlier this year (covered), Hawaii-based artists Kamea Hadar and Defer (seen above adding his calligraphic embellishments to Hadar’s figurative imagery) began a year-long series of collaborative walls, gallery shows and other creative projects. On this note, this Thursday, August 7th, they will be opening a show together at 1AM Gallery in San Francisco, showing a new body of mixed media works on canvas.
