Time for another peek inside a sketchbook. “Practice makes perfect” and if the old axiom is true then it may explain Ian Francis’ crazy skills with the brush. Last night, the Carmichael GalleryÂ in Hollywood pulled no punches with their all-star show, “Get Rich Quick!,” showcasing the strongest talents in the street and urban art genre. Some scorching hot pieces lined the gallery’s walls for the exhibition, including: a rare BanksyÂ canvas, a KAWS ad disruption, boxes and screen-printed collages fromÂ Faile, to originals by Barry McGeeÂ and Micallef and much more. It’s currently 7:15 pm in Sydney, Australia at the MTV Gallery where Ian Francis’ new exhibition (previewed) has just opened it’s doors to numerous excited Aussies ‘Down Unda.’ Since most of the world may not be able to attend the pop-up Semi-Permanent exhibition as our friends in the southern hemisphere, AM thought it would be nice to share an online viewing of Ian’s latest body of work. Another great group show is underway at Lazarides (Newcastle Location). This time, the exhibition that opened last weekend is entitled “Outsiders Selection” and features original paintings, prints and sculpture from Faile, Antony Micallef, Blu, Ian Francis, David Choe, JR, Conor Harrington, Damien Hirst, Paul Insect, Invader, Polly Morgan, Kelsey Brookes, Vhils, Jonathan Yeo, Herbert Baglione, Zevs, and more.Â Although the art was mainly older work, there were many standout pieces including this stunning “Flying Copper” (seen above) by Banksy suspended in glass/plexi.Â Many more pics […]
