Videos: Aakash Nihalani – “Projections” Interactive Installations

Continuing to push the boundaries of his artistic vision, Aakash Nihalani (interviewed) has recently completed some interactive installations entitled Projections. Working to further his geometric imagery, the New York-based artist has created projections that react to a viewer’s hand movement in real time using coding and motion software. One of these interactive pieces has already been exhibited at AICON Gallery last month for the Eat Pray Thug exhibition curated by Himanshu Suri so look for more of these in future showings. Tonight in Istanbul, Robert Montgomery will be opening his first solo show in Turkey at the cultural hub situated in Galatasaray and Karaköy – ISTANBUL’74. Howard Griffin Gallery Los Angeles opened a solo by Pablo Delgado on March 7th entitled On Their Level. After showing last year at their London gallery (covered), the Mexican artist took a different approach to presenting his peculiar work this time. Gonzalo Borondo’s Animal recently opened on the 5th of February at London’s Newcastle Project Space in Shoreditch, and is now in its final week. Over the weekend, Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) opened his new showcase (arranged by LeBasse Projects) at Harbour City in Hong Kong. Like other artists before him – KAWS (here), Yayoi Kusama, Yue Minjun (here), and Florentijn Hofman (here) – the New York based artist’s work dominated the main entrance and was also supported by a small exhibition of his work.
