Openings: Invader – “1000” @ Galerie Le Feuvre (Paris)

Yesterday night in Paris, resident street tilemaster Invader put on the mother of all shows to celebrate getting up for the 1000th time at La Générale, organized by Gallerie Le Feuvre. Almost as impressive as the amount of work the French artist created is that fact that it seems he meticulously documented everything as evidenced by a large wall covered by what looks to be a photo of every single piece (perhaps not surprising as being obsessive-compulsive may run in his blood seeing his cousin […]

Streets / Teaser: Invader – “1000” @ Galerie Le Feuvre (Paris)

MOCA’s indoor space (covered), along with the surrounding outdoor landscape (covered), was infiltrated by Invader’s mosaic minions for Art in the Streets. Apparently, his street invasion, while technically unsanctioned, was so egregious that he was bestowed the unwelcome honor as the first artist to be arrested – though later released and allowed to leave the country – by Los Angeles Police. The LAPD have made their opposition and misplaced animosity regarding the museum exhibit crystal clear, as if on some tireless terrorist hunt wasting resources […]

Focus: Invader – “Art in the Streets” @ MOCA

With the MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibition on track to potentially break attendance records and Invader’s recent LAPD arrest for making art in the streets of LA, we thought that it’s time for another Art Focus – in the form of little Easter Eggs left by our friend Invader. With all the spectacular art and installations at this exhibition, it’s easy to get lost in the thick of things. Invader took an interesting approach to making his mark at the MOCA while he stayed […]

Streets: Invader (Los Angeles)

As you know, there is a little show called Art in the Streets set to open to the public this weekend in Los Angeles. Besides work inside the MOCA and the surrounding walls, some artists like Invader here could not resist hitting up other parts of the city with their work.  Take a look at more detailed pics of this tiled piece in Culver City as well as another piece in Echo Park after the jump…

Basel Week Miami ’10: Wynwood Walls

Last year, Wynwood Walls started out as an ambitious project to revive and reclaim the worndown Wynwood Arts District with art. This year, Tony Goldman upped the ante by expanding the project space with new works and installations by Ryan McGinness, Invader, Kenny Scharf, Ron English (featured), Jeff Soto’s (featured), Logan Hicks (interviewed), Friends With You and Shepard Fairey. In addition, a restaurant and a project gallery space were also created on-site to keep onlookers submerged in the arts. After checking out the space during […]

Following up on our initial coverage last week of the group exhibition Urban Alchemists (teased), here’s a more extensive preview of the work that Jonathan LeVine Gallery will have to share for Art Basel Week. AJ Fosik, Dan Witz, Doze Green, Invader, James Marshall (Dalek), Jeff Soto, Jim Houser, Judith Supine, Mario Martinez (Mars-1) and WK Interact will fill the walls of the South Beach pop-up space, while murals from Invader and Jeff Soto for the continuation of Wynwood Walls will round out the New […]

Teaser: Basel Week Miami ’10 – “Urban Alchemists” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

With Art Basel Miami Beach swiftly approaching more and more details are beginning to surface from galleries involved in the new contemporary and street art movements. To coincide with this years event, Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be taking over a cavernous 2,200 square-foot space in the Wynwood Walls section, which last year was a successful inaugural run at an outdoor mural space within the fair conceived of by legendary Jeffrey Deitch and which will now become a permanent fixture for street artists to showcase their […]

Openings: Invader – “Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities” @ Wunderkammern (Italy)

Last night, the invasion of Rome officially started at Wunderkammern as Invader opened his newest show “Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities” (teased). The Rome Photo Blog was on hand to document the new body of work including sculpture, his infamous tile work, photographs, and maps painstakingly detailing each and every piece the French street artist put up. More photos after the jump…

Teaser: Invader – “Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities” @ Wunderkammern (Italy)

French street art phenom Invader has trained his sights on his next target, quietly mobilizing a army of alien assassins poised to attack neighboring Italy with his first solo in over a year. Opening October 23rd at Wunderkammern, Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities will in part continue the artist’s self-ascribed “RubikCubism”, an inventive re-purposing of the definitive hand-held puzzle toy that first manifested itself during his tribute to classic album cover art in NYC (covered) and saw further rearrangements with last years UK solo (covered). […]

Streets: Invader in Paris

Not sure when Invader put these up in Paris, but the way these photos were taken was pretty well done. If you are in Southern California and want to see some work from the street tilemaster in person, head down to San Diego.  There are still many pieces up from the Viva La Revolucion show. More pics after the jump…
