Croatian artist Igor Taritaš will be opening a solo with a new gallery, Tales Of Art, in Imola, Italy, on November 25th. For Alienated Space, the young artist created a new series of distinctive acrylic paintings that explore the notion of space through play with architecture and light. Last month in Italy, street art savant Blu made one of his increasingly rare appearances and painted an impressive new mural for the Draw The Line Festival. Recap: MOMO @ Studiocromie

Following a mural painting trip through Italy (more on this later), MOMO concluded things with a solo exhibition at Studiocromie in Grottaglie. The new body of work on includes paintings on canvas, paper pieces, prints, and ceramics all demonstrating the American artist’s unique use of patterns, shapes, and colors, both seemingly random and purposeful at the same time. The sold out show apparently was on view for two days only but you can see more photos below on what was on display. Discuss MOMO here.

Recap: FestiWall 2016 (Italy)

The FestiWall public arts and music event recently wrapped up their 2016 edition with a small but effective roster of artists creating murals on the island of Sicily. An example of this was a lush piece entitled The Gardener (seen above) from Australian street artist Fintan Magee, a multi-story masterpiece painted over several days. Streets: Ai Weiwei – “Reframe” @ Palazzo Strozzi (Florence)

Over the weekend, Ai Weiwei unveiled a provocative new installation on the facade of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence which continues his commentary on the current refugee crisis in Europe. Entitled Reframe, the Chinese artist’s latest public work will features 22 life rafts attached to the historic building’s windows, a striking critique of the handling of the humanitarian crisis. Several weeks ago, Blu was invited to Porto Torres, Sardinia, by the C.S.O.A. Pangea Posthudorra collective. During his visit, the Italian artist painted another impressive piece in the Villaggio Satellite residential part of town. The finished mural depicts a large head whose face is formed with a human puzzle, sending a message of unity. Andy Rementer is currently taking part in a double personal exhibition with Fulvia Mendini at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan. Blu recently spent several day in Naples, working on a new mural for the local Je So Pazzo organization that is revitalizing a former abandoned mental hospital.
