El Mac x Prada – “In the Heart of the Multitude” Project

Last month during Milan Fashion Week, American artist El Mac was asked by Prada to participate in the In the Heart of the Multitude project. Guided by themes of beauty, femininity, and power, the LA-based street muralist created three murals that were used as the backdrop for the Spring/Summer ’14 Prada Women’s fashion show (see video below). Collectively, he entitled them Sueños y Polvo de Estrellas (Dreams and Stardust) and shared that they were inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha. Discuss El Mac here.

Korean artist Yu Jinyoung (interviewed) recently opened her first solo show in Italy at Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan. On Wednesday, September 18th, local art lovers were introduced to the wonderful fragile creations of this talented artist through her new show titled I Am OK. Three years after his first Italian solo show at MAN, the Art Museum in Nuoro (Sardinia), and six months since his last European solo show at Tim Van Laere Gallery in Antwerpen, Belgium, Ed Templeton is back in Europe, opening a solo show at Jerome Zodo Contemporary in Milan, Italy. Herbert Baglione – “1000 Shadows” Project (Italy)

It looks like Herbert Baglione has been having some fun in Parma, Italy recently. Hanging out in an abandoned psychiatric hospital, the renowned Brazilian street artist took advantage of the location to continue his 1000 Shadows project, a series of works where he paints floating silhouettes on floors and walls. Openings: Momo in Grottaglie, Italy

Last weekeend in Grottaglie, Italy in the ceramic district, the geometrically inclined Momo opened up a solo show. Put on by the people behind the annual Fame Festival, the exhibition featured pieces that were very similar to the abstract murals that the street muralist has been known for. His use of color and the balanced composition bely a fine hand behind each work. Preview: MOMO show in Grottaglie, Italy

Tonight in Grottaglie, Italy, Momo will be putting on a new solo exhibition with the people behind the annual Fame Festival. After tooling around the Cuba & Jamaica, painting in the streets with his geometrically-inclined imagery, he will be returning to Southern Italy with some new pieces inspired by his travels. The festivities start at 7 pm at Bottega Papocchia in the Quartiere Delle Ceramiche. Discuss Momo here.

Earlier today in Italy, illustrator, artist, and designer, Parra opened his solo show Il Senso di Colpa (The Guilt) at Galleria Patricia Armocida. In accordance with the title of his show, the artist focused this body of work on the feeling of guilt and similar emotions that are often limiting and troubling for many of us.
