Releases: James Jean – “Chang’e” Print

In celebration of another Chinese holiday (also see CNY), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new print for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Entitled Chang’e, the edition will be time limited for 24 hours from 8:00 AM PDT on Thursday, September 15th and ending at 7:59 AM PDT on Friday, September 16th. Openings: “Juxtapoz x Superflat” @ Pivot Art

Earlier this month, the Juxtapoz x Superflat group show opened at Pivot Art, giving art enthusiasts in Seattle a chance to see work from a stellar roster of artists. Showing at the same time as the Seattle Art Fair, the exhibition was co-curated by the arts & culture magazine and Takashi Murakami. James Jean x TBWA\Paris – AIDES Campaign

After working with Apple to promote their new Pencil stylus, James Jean (interviewed) decided to harness the new technology for his latest project. The second Saturday of August of every year is International Swingers Day (common knowledge of course) – so to mark the occasion, Jean was commissioned by TBWA\Paris to create a special image for AIDES, the leading HIV/AIDS organization in France. He decided due to limited space and time constraints to execute the piece while on the road in the Japan on his iPad. Discuss James Jean here.

Releases: James Jean – “Zugzwang” Catalog

On August 9th (8 am PST), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a catalog of his show last year in Japan at Hidari Zingaro Gallery (covered). Curated by Takashi Murakami, the work for the exhibition in Tokyo was entitled Zugzwang, which now will be documented fully in this 80 page publication. Also included will be process images as well as related exploratory and ancillary works from the period.
