Teaser: Whammy! The Art Show @ VASF

Whammy! The Art Show opens next Thursday, July 9th with some pretty good artists in the lineup.Â How does Dave Kinsey (above), Anthony Lister (interviewed), Tiffany Bozic, Jeff Soto, John Dwyer, Robert Hardgrave, Mel Kadel, Jay Howell, and Kelsey Brookes sound?Â The exhibition will be held at VASF, the RVCA retail flagship on Haight and Ashbuy in San Francisco.

It’s always interesting to see how an artist views themselves, especially in the context of their own art. “Self Portraits” (previewed) which opened recently in Berlin at Circle Culture Gallery is based exactly on this concept. AM was lucky enough to get an advance look at what will surely be the most sought after pieces at “Self-Portraits,” Circle Culture Gallery’s latest offering opening tomorrow, Friday, June 5th in Berlin. Seen above is JR’s “Self-Portrait in a Woman’s Eye, Kenya” from the 28 Millimetres series and is a brilliant use of a subject to capture an image of himself. Jeff Soto (interviewed) opened his UK solo show to a packed house at StolenSpace yesterday. Sotoâ€™s arrival in London had certainly stirred up lots of fans eager to meet him and see his work in person for the first time. AM spent some more time with Jeff Soto (interviewed) as he was preparing for his upcoming solo at StolenSpace (previewed) this week. Jeff Soto makes his United Kingdom debut this week with his solo show entitled “The Inland Empire” (teased) opening Thursday, May 14th, at Stolenspace. AM caught up with Soto ahead of the show to try and understand how the show came together, the symbolism and meaning behind his new work and how fatherhood has changed his career as an artist. AM stopped by for an early look at the new limited edition Jeff Soto will be releasing named “Inland Empire” – a 5 color hand-pulled screen print.Â Soto’s similarily named show “Inland Empire” (teased) is set to open this weekend at StolenSpace.
