Jeff Soto gave an interesting talk along with a slideshow last night at the Riverside Art Museum to his strong fan base in the area. He covered his graffiti roots, childhood, inspirations, and took the audience through a progression of his work. It was very instructive to hear what was important (family, Riverside area, politics, etc) to Jeff in his painting, and to really understand the transitions and beginnings of his work. Afterwards, he took time to sign books and chat with all his fans. […]
For those who haven’t seen Jeff Soto’s show “Turning in Circles” yet, here’s a good opportunity to stop by for a visit. Not only is the Riverside Art Museum open late tomorrow (because of the monthly Riverside Art Walk), Jeff will also be presenting an hour long slide show chronicling the span of his career, past and present. There will also be a Q & A session and a signing afterwards for his book, “Storm Clouds”. Feb 5 (7:30 – 9 pm) Riverside Art Museum […]
Last night’s opening for “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed here and here) reaffirmed why New Image Art is one of the primary driving forces in the alternative/low-brow/street art scene. The show was everything we thought it would be and more – great art, an energetic crowd, and non-stop entertainment. AM congratulates Marsea Goldberg and the entire New Image Art team on an amazing fifteen years! See all the artwork and photos from the opening after the jump.
Tonight marks the opening of New Image Art’s anniversary show “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed). AM swung by the gallery yesterday to check out the progress of the installation. In you’re in Los Angeles, don’t miss this milestone event! There are amazing pieces on hand from such notables as Aiko, Anthony Lister, Antonio Diaz, […]

Some 15 years ago, Marsea Goldberg launched New Image Art, and in doing so, helped foster the alternative/low-brow/street art scene we all know and love today. The roster includes such notables as Barry McGee, Clare Rojas, Ed, Templeton, Chris Johanson, Thomas Campbell, Shepard Fairey, Jim Houser, Jeff Soto, Swoon, Faile, David Ellis, Bast, Aiko, Os […]
Riverside native Jeff Soto returned to his roots last night for his first museum show entitled “Turning in Circles” (previewed). Judging from the great turnout, his hometown liked what they saw. There were familiar faces as well as many new ones, with a large number of fans making the trek east from the greater LA area for this epic show. Everyone walked away impressed by the scale and quality of this mostly new body of work – for good reason as Jeff poured his heart […]
Jeff Soto’s first museum show “Turning in Circles” (previewed) is set to open this Saturday, December 13th at the Riverside Art Museum. He has been hard at work on this show for over a year now and it promises to be an epic one. We sat down with him to talk a little about the show after the jump…
Already revved up from the Gen Art Vanguard Gala (Here)… Friday night got even more crazy as DJ Diabetic and Ztrip tag teamed the turntables for a packed Shore Club in South Beach. Shepard gave back in his usual gracious fashion as he threw a party for all his friends and fans. The party was super packed but security kept it cool and managed the crazy crowd wait to see Shepard and Ztrip. Once inside, the vibe was amazing. Numerous peeps were in attendance: Jose Parla, […]
