Teaser: “Street/Studio 2.0” @ Irvine Contemporary

For street artists, location has always been as important, if not more so, than the artwork itself. The site informs the conception – and perception – of the work down to it’s very core. On November 6th, Irvine Contemporary will explore this unique relationship with a group of artists that have been bringing the street into the studio for years. With such street art legends as José Parlá, Shepard Fairey, SWOON, James Marshall (Dalek), David Ellis, Romon Yang (Rostarr) and Gaia, Street/Studio 2.0 will spotlight […]

Jose Parla’s Concord Project Destined for The City of Toronto

There’s been a lot of buzz between Toronto and Brooklyn regarding Jose Parla’s incredible mural/installation called The Concord Project. We’ve pieced together this moving story with the help of our friend Simon at Show & Tell Gallery in Toronto. Basically, these pieces are destined for Toronto as a public arts project sponsored by Concord Pacific, in an effort to give back to the community. Jose started this project this summer and just finished it for the soon to be lucky residents of T-Dot. We’ll be bringing […]

Releases: Jose Parla x T.I. & REAS x B.o.B for Complex Magazine

(seen after the jump) for the cover of the coming August/September issue of the magazine (your choice). Complex of course aims to give you twice your bang for the buck as one can reverse the “maggie” to find another cover of Lindsay Lohan x KAWS on the flip-side. The issue will be […]

Openings: “Beyond the Street” NY Book Launch @ Deitch Projects

Imagine the days of high school where it’s the last week of school before summer hits and everyone is saying their goodbyes while signing each other’s yearbooks. That was the scene as AM attended the last public event at the legendary Deitch Projects and as expected, it was a blast! Set to the background of Shepard Fairey’s intense “May Day” exhibition, the book launch for Gestalten’s “Beyond the Street: The 100 Leading Figures in Urban Art”, by Patrick Nguyen and Stuart Mackenzie, drew a veritable […]

Preview: “The New Grand Tour” @ Bryce Wolkowitz

We know you all have wondered where it went – and after many centuries, the Grand Tour is coming back, courtesy of Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery and curator Amanda Bhalla Wilkes. The New Grand Tour is a revival, redefinition, and reinvention of the tradition that started in the 16th century. The original grand tour was a culmination of aristocratic education, where young men and women traveled to cities like Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome to broaden their cultural background. The group of artists in the New […]
