Update: Collection Selim Varol @ me Collectors Room Berlin

Earlier this month, we brought you a preview of uber-collector Selim Varol’s show at me Collectors Room Berlin where a portion of his treasured toys and artwork acquired through the years would be on display. The exhibition opened just this past weekend, and for those in the US celebrating Memorial Day, we thought a glimpse of his USA-themed wall would a good starter image for an update on the setup. Make sure you stop by to see for yourself if you are in the area as […]

Streets: JR (New York)

After a series of inspiring murals with Jose Parla in Cuba as part of his ever-expanding Wrinkles Of The City project and a TED Talk on the one year anniversary of his wish to turn the world Inside Out, JR has returned to New York for a new large-scale mural. Set next to the popular pedestrian walkway, The High Line, the piece took several days to complete and will be testament to the French photograffeur’s skills in a high-traffic location. Discuss JR here.

Rewind: May 14 – May 20

For our video summary this weekend, our featured piece is entitled A Brief History of John Baldessari. The humorous yet informative video follows a give and take session between the conceptual artist and narrator Tom Waits. The footage includes topics like how Baldessari cremated everything he ever made, his height, and his love affair with dots, his film still collection, how “he will not make any more boring art,” among other zany discussion points. Other notable videos this week… JR, a year after his TED […]

This next phase of JR’s Wrinkles Of The City project will coincide with the 11th Havana Biennial 2012 and feature photos from a previous trip to Cuba that the duo took back in […]

Working on walls throughout the city of Havana, the sublime mix of the French street photographer’s candid shots of the Cubanos along with Parla’s calligraphic messages has fans of the duo’s work buzzing. The street activity has been timed to […]

As we mentioned back in March along with set of photos from JR (featured) taken during a trip to Cuba, the French photograffeur was prepping for the next phase of his The Wrinkles Of The City project. It looks like that project has been started already as a collaboration with Jose Parla in Havana as evidenced by a glimpse of the action in the pic above. We’ll bring you more news soon but for now, enjoy more photos from Cuba after the jump…

Teaser: JR x David Lynch

Who wouldn’t want to work with street visionary and TED winner JR? The answer is probably nobody – which is why a steady stream of artists of late have been seen working on collaborations with the French photographer including Liu Bolin, Cyrcle., Jose Parla, and now David Lynch (just to name a few). It looks like the gifted filmmaker, musician, and artist, who recently released a new video, stopped by JR’s studio to work on a little something… More photos after the jump…
