It’s always interesting to take a peek into the home of one of your favorite artists (also see the Rydens and Shepard Fairey), especially if they are collectors themselves. Architectural Digest recently stopped by the home of Brian Donnelly, better know as KAWS, and his wife and artist Julia Chiang to give us an intriguing look at their Brooklyn abode. Releases: KAWS – “BFF” Vinyl Figures

Following up the unveiling of his BFF statue in Bangkok last year (covered), as well as plush versions in blue and black, KAWS will be releasing vinyl versions of the figure tomorrow (October 18th). The blue version can be purchased starting at 10 AM EST online at MoMA and at its two NYC shops while the black iteration will be available on KAWSONE.com starting at 12 PM EST. One booth you don’t want to miss while in London for Frieze Week will be the Perrotin booth as they have dedicated their entire space to KAWS. Continuing to push the boundaries of his aesthetic, the Brooklyn-based artist explores different palettes as well as incorporates more of his “scribbles” in the new work. Releases: KAWS – “Blush Companion”

Just released this morning, the Blush edition of KAWS’ Companion figure is still available on his website. The two versions (regular and flayed) are both open editions and retail for $200 each. If you remember, word on these first surfaced around the time the Brooklyn-based artist opened his show in Shanghai. Discuss KAWS here.

Previews: KAWS – “FAR FAR DOWN” @ Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis

Today at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, KAWS will be continuing his bevy of museum exhibitions with a new showing entitled FAR FAR DOWN. The Brooklyn-based artist has prepared a mural of his snoopy inspired black & white abstractions on CAM’s 60-foot long Project Wall, with the the work serving as a backdrop for three new paintings. On Monday, April 3rd, the Brooklyn Museum will host the seventh annual Brooklyn Artists Ball. This year’s event will honor Brooklyn Museum trustee and music producer Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean and artist and activist Alicia Keys for their outstanding commitment to art in all its forms. This year’s event will be full of artist collaborations, transformative décor brought to life by David Stark Designs, and special surprise performances. Although we’ve barely warmed up to KAWS’ latest product (covered), he surprises us with even more news via Instagram. “I’m happy to finally be able to announce a new project releasing this April with Uniqlo…” Like his previous Uniqlo project, there will be KAWS x Peanuts apparel as well as some plush toys apparently this go around (see below). Following the initial news on the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 (covered), we now not only have an official release date for the collaboration, but also a great preview of the apparel that will be released alongside the shoes. Sporting a cool grey color reminiscent of his iconic vinyl figures, the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 is set for release later this month. Featuring graphic detailing from the Brooklyn-based artist and his famous double x’s on the heel tab as well as a glow in the dark outsole.
